Vols #6 Ranked Class 2016

When you have two back to back top five recruiting class in part because of the numbers we had to bring in to rebuild, in the third class we can get players that fill specific needs (quality vs quantity here) because this class will be expected to sit and develop behind the previously vaunted talented classes. We don't need these guys to start right off the bat. Not sweating this class as much as the first two years. But I fully expect this ranking to climb by national signing day.

LSU is shown on rivals as the #2 class with 17 recruits and an average ranking of 3.47. Your logic looks very weak. I would take LSU's 3.47 average and ACTUAL number #2 class over ours and they only have one extra recruit. Anyhow, everyone continuing high fiving our #19class (that is now recalculated by OP to #6). According to OP, we are right where we need to be. LOL.

No doubt. I hope he has a big time senior season and gets drafted. He's one of my favorites. Butch should assign a designated trainer just to him with one requirement, that he be 100% next August.

The way North started his career, I was thinking he would end up being a first rounder by the time his Tennessee career was over. Injuries and not getting the ball thrown his way to much, has definitely hurt his draft stock. He's got a lot to prove come next season, if he wants to be one of the top WRs taken. I really hope he gets back to where he was in 2013. If he can get going his senior season as far as numbers, he's got the chance to be a high pick. IMO there's no doubt he's got the size and speed to be successful on Sundays.

No matter how good or bad our final ranking in this class is, I don't think it's overly important. We have the luxury of not having to rely on any 2016 recruits next season. We can afford to take some developmental guys.

The final ranking of the 2016 class won't be nearly as important as how much we'll be able to coach them up and have them ready in 2017-2018 IMO.

Is this another way to make excuses for this staff? We are ranked 19th, but really 6th because we have a average of 3.55 ?

Dont have to take up for them in the recruiting game. We've signed 60 players in the last two yrs signing grey/blue shirts as well trying to flip the roster. This was always gona be a smaller class and over half of the guys commited are 4 stars. We have some studs commited plus several of the lower rated guys are getting nice offers and ratings bumps. Also some guys are being asked to look elsewhere so obviously there are some upgrades being made.
What has this staff done recruiting wise to cause anyone to doubt them is a better question.

So let me understand...we are 19th but with common core math we can turn it into 6th. So Alabama, lsu, fla consistently ranking in top 5 or 10, so with the common core formula do they all rank 1? I don't think they are signing 30 players every year.

So did our great classes rank out of top 20 with this formula because we signed so many players?

Either this class isn't ranked as high right now at 19 or with your logic our last 2 classes wasn't near as good as the rank says and everybody has giving butch credit for great classes when in reality they were not really good classes with any quality.

You can't have it both ways...so which is it?

We don't have 19. We have 16.
I don't know wisevol, but he started a thread that we're 6th. But we are not. That's all man. However there are still two months left. The RF guys know how this will end. Butch will get some guys, some of them will make an impact, others will be processed and rinse and repeat. Take a look back at the 13 class. I think there's 4 guys that are vital to our SEC East chances next year. Dobbs, JRM, Cam, and Josh Smith. Fingers crossed on North. Then you have lots of guys like Vereen, Foreman, Weisman who will contribute but weren't much help on our class ranking. And we will be favored to win the East. One year outside the top 10 occasionally isn't a big deal.

No, I think the OP is using some kind of new age math. LOL. I am pretty sure we are 19. Nice try though to turn a low ranked class into an almost top five class.

Why is it that you want to say that this class is low rated when there are still almost two months to go? We may well end up 19th, which I doubt, but, like you, that is speculation. Recruiting rankings in December are just like football rankings in August. They don't mean much. Even rankings in February don't mean that much if the players don't stay or work out, but this is a recruiting board and the thread is about recruiting ranking. Lastly, everyone knew that this class was not going to be as highly ranked as the two previous because of sheer numbers. If you want to compare it to the previous two, you can either wait four years or compare the average star ranking of this class to the others. Oh wait, that is what the OP is doing.

The lack of basic understanding in this thread is remarkable.

The reason our class is ranked lower is because it is smaller, and the margin between the top 20 classes is extremely small. One player can make dramatic differences.

Anyway, someone asked what our rank was the previous two years using average stars per recruit.

Conviently enough, it was also 6th in both 2014 and 2015. That should let you know that this class, while smaller, continues to provide elite quality per recruit just like our last two classes have.

But this doesn't fit the narrative Chile is trying perpetrate, therefore you are not using "facts and information."

I think in the end we will land 2 or 3 on NSD and end up around 12th to 14th, we can live with that as long we have a top 5 class in 17 the 16 class will be the depth class, plus we have red shirted Richmond and a few other top rated recruits from the 15 class so if you add them to the 16 class it would be a top 10 class, i think we are on our way back to GREATNESS on the hill in KNOXVILLE,TENNESSEE in 16 and year's to come next year is here and now we are TENNESSEE we stand TALL and proud kick back and enjoy the CHAMPIONSHIPS that will be coming our way in the next few years.:clapping:

I have been tracking that as well.. Not bad so far, however we REALLY NEED DBs! Missed on Williams and most likely Warrior, so getting concerned.

But 0 5*s. Sunshine pumper threads belong in FF. This class is what it is. Isn't great, but definitely not bad. Can only get better too.

It seems easy to understand - I guess they stopped teaching averages in school a few years back. I still think Guarantano will get a 5th star. Need to try and get two of: Warrior, Hardman and Brown.

Lol. Some of you really are clueless. If Butch finishes out strong with the available spots this will be a top ten class. One recruit can jump you several spots on the team ranking list. The average indicates the quality of recruit the program is recruiting. Only the top twenty recruits are counted in the class ranking. UT is poised to finish strong. Probably looking at a class just outside the top ten IMO which is good considering our numbers this year.
