Also everyone shrugging this start off cracks me up. For example if our class was flipped with UGA and all we had was 3 3* and half our top in state guys were committed elsewhere right now I am telling you this place would be a crap show.

I was worried at the end of last yr and I hope I'm not blindsided but with the coaching moves Butch made and was able to make along with how well our program is being received on the trail I don't even think Butch is on the Hot Seat in the eyes of our AD. It's time as fans to root for this staff to breakthrough during the best two years because we are VERY close and we have great people leading this program again who love TN!

Sorry fired up this AM!

Tony B was ready to take a swan dive off a busy overpass when we had a 5*, a 4*, and two 3*s. The LOM doesn't need excuses. They love being miserable and they'll try to drag everyone else down into the muck with them.

Oh, you have to love our Fanbase… We whine when we have no commitments in the spring time and complain about what in the world is going on with recruiting… Then, we start landing high-end commitments and shoot up the rankings, and now rankings don't mean a thing, because it's only May. Talk about legion of the miserable with some of our fans. If you can't enjoy the success we are having on the recruiting trail right now, find a new program, because this one isn't for you.

They don't want to be happy. They love being miserable. It is kind of disturbing actually.

When the Negas start up, I be like...

I think if this class were full of high ranked guys like Corbin who hadn't visited and were under recruited in their home state it would be different. You could speculate then that while the start seems nice on paper it could easily crumble in an instant.

But if you have a brain you can look at this class and honestly say the foundation couldn't be stronger. Our most loyal, vocal commits also are our highest ranked commits. We also know of many other big time guys who are as close to locks as you get.

I honestly think this class is so strong at this point and the staff has done such a great job selling TN that even if there was a HC change this season most of these guys would stay committed.

But once again I think any serious talk of that being an option is looney barring an unforeseen meltdown.

I'm fired up to be in ATL this December with double digit wins and a top 5 class locked in!!!

There's no way this isn't a positive. In-state recruits are committing early and peer-recruiting other in-state guys. This is exactly what we need. It may be early and a lot can change, but you take your wins when you get them. And right now, recruiting is a win.

It's May, Kansas has a top 25 class at this point.

And if we only had 2 3 star recruits at this point you would probably be one of the folks whining and complaining about how we are recruiting. We are kickin arse and will continue to have a great recruiting year!!! GBO!!!

Of course higher rankings are a +. But, first of all the only ranking that matters is the one on signing day. It's May and the order will shift wildly by Feb. Secondly, we're not even certain how accurate final rankings are.

I hope we're #1 allthe way to mad, and in every ranking in the future for all eternity. It's + news yes, but scant + news.

That said, I think we are putting together a great class so far bc of the interest of top players, in state guyz, AND those who have verbally committed. Rankings in May are a basketball score 2 minutes after the tip.

We know all that. Why bother?

Yep. Georgia was built to win when Kirby was hired. Had great talent and coming off a ten win season. Fired a good coach and thought they upgraded. Then they crap the bed but had a solid recruiting class (2nd in a row under Smart). The losing last year however took a toll and players in Georgia don't see him as a championship coach. Hell, they got worse. Now players are already taking a pause approach with Georgia.

Be glad we're not Georgia right now Vols. We're trending in the right direction.

Ahhh yes....any excuse to not give Butch and staff any credit. Give it a rest.

Butch and staff should get a ton of credit here, they're off to a great start, have a lot of momentum in recruiting. I especially love that they're killing it instate again after a tough go last year.

But his point is legit. For example, Alabama is #61 right now, 3 spots behind Vandy. I think we can safely say that's gonna change significantly between now and NSD.

Saying "It's only May" doesn't take any credit from Butch, it simply provides truthful context. If the table was turned and we were #61 right now, you and plenty others would undoubtedly be telling everybody to simmer down or even sthu because "it's only May".....and you'd be right to do so.

It's not the program that runs the swiftest, nor the one that shines for a day, but the one which endureth until signing day; the same shall be called winners!

His point is not necessarily "legit".

Look. It's May 2017.
Today it can't be anything else but that. Next month it'll be June 2017. We may get another commit.

Well, signing day isn't until Feb 2018.

So... Do we not get excited until then??

Why keep up with recruiting at all until Signing day itself?

Why talk about or be excited abouyt CFB until the fall?

I mean... After all its only May.

Let's just NOT get excited about good things pertaing to the sport and team we all love...until its time to??

It's May and "its going to be May" for the rest of the month.

I choose to acknowledge and be excited about present day progress.

Still extremely early but lots to be optimistic about. Lots of teams are just now coming around to taking commits for exampe Missouri - 1 commit, Bama and Ole Miss - 2 commits, UGA and Vandy 3.

Meanwhile Richt at Miami has 11 4 stars and 1 5 star already on top of 5 3 stars. Makes you wonder if he's going to be able to hold onto all them before NSD. James Franklin also looks like he's bringing in his best class to date.

Gonna be an interesting recruiting season...
Ole miss be lucky to have a decent class. They are headed down the crapper in a hurry. Thank you freeze for cheating.

And I would be right, Alabama only has 2 commits now but do you really think they will have a terrible class. BUT, when you are recruiting at a good clip as we are now more than likely it is a good sign. I would rather have the commits than not, but it doesn't mean a slow start means a slow finish either. On the other hand a good fast start usually means you will end up with a good class, show me the times a class starts off great and ends bad. No doubt it happens but the odds are in your favor for a good class with this kind of start. But go ahead and poo poo it, I guess we could have a terrible year and things could go south. But if we have a good year I would be willing to bet that this class is a stellar one. Come back in a few months and let's see where this class is. I just find it funny that some have a hard time recognizing that we have come out of the gate pretty strong in recruiting. GBO!!!!!

Im happier with this class than I was with last years. Last year we were taking a ton of 3* early commits and we ended up with a class loaded with 3*'s. Hopefully this class will work the same and since were getting 4*'s we end up with a class loaded with 4-5*'s and only a couple 3*'s.

When have our top ten recruiting classes correlated into wins? Dooley had top ten classes and so has Butch.

Let's enjoy 2017 because we may all be dead in 2018.

You hit the nail on the head when you said come back in a few months and let's see where this class is. Is Jones doing good things on the recruiting trail? Yes, is it to early to brag about having the number 7 class in the country? Hell yes, these kids haven't signed on the line yet.

I swear some of you people will never be happy. He didn't say we are going to have a top 10 class, nor did he make any other predictions. He provided factual information and noted that we are off to a great start. Yet, you felt the need to deride the start we have. C'mon, man!
