His point is not necessarily "legit".

Look. It's May 2017.
Today it can't be anything else but that. Next month it'll be June 2017. We may get another commit.

Well, signing day isn't until Feb 2018.

So... Do we not get excited until then??

Why keep up with recruiting at all until Signing day itself?

Why talk about or be excited abouyt CFB until the fall?

I mean... After all its only May.

Let's just NOT get excited about good things pertaing to the sport and team we all love...until its time to??

It's May and "its going to be May" for the rest of the month.

I choose to acknowledge and be excited about present day progress.

Did you just not choose to read the first part of my post? I'm with you on being thrilled with where we are right now.

We should be excited about where we are right now, Butch and company are doing very, very well, especially with top in-state talent....I said as much. It's particularly impressive given the turnover in staff and the disappointment of last season....as well as very much needed.

But we're 8+ months from NSD, and a ton is sure to change, both good and bad, for both our class and the classes of our competitors. And when the OP highlights that other teams aren't currently in as good a spot as we are, the reality of "it's May" definitely needs to be pointed out for some perspective. We all know plenty is very likely to change between now and next February.

I swear some of you people will never be happy. He didn't say we are going to have a top 10 class, nor did he make any other predictions. He provided factual information and noted that we are off to a great start. Yet, you felt the need to deride the start we have. C'mon, man!

And I provided the fact that it's to early in the experiment to come to a conclusion

Last year class was ranked 17th .

You are right. Still doesn't add up that we would be 12-14 with the way things are going. Someone had us ranked 11th but maybe that was right before they actually signed and a few moved up past us.

ESPN Top 300:

LSU: 10
Tennessee: 5
Florida 3
Kentucky 3
Alabama 2 (it would be nice to stay that way, but I bama will close well).
Mizzou 1

You were right - 247 had us at 11th. The composite had us at 17th.

I'm going to repeat everybody else, but it's funny that when we did not have many commits everybody was bashing Butch for not being able to recruit. They said the sky was falling and nobody wanted to come to Tennessee anymore. When we start having great recruits committing and building a great class, they change their outlook to "well, it's still early on." Be positive for once people. It won't hurt you.

Of course higher rankings are a +. But, first of all the only ranking that matters is the one on signing day. It's May and the order will shift wildly by Feb. Secondly, we're not even certain how accurate final rankings are.

I hope we're #1 allthe way to mad, and in every ranking in the future for all eternity. It's + news yes, but scant + news.

That said, I think we are putting together a great class so far bc of the interest of top players, in state guyz, AND those who have verbally committed. Rankings in May are a basketball score 2 minutes after the tip.

Right. Everybody knows that. We could end up 1st in the SEC or 14th. The point is simply: be happy now. We'll all have plenty of things to be unhappy about as summer starts and the season gets underway.

I really believe that Butch is between 7 and 19 months of no longer being here. I'm ready for the next guy.

Using 247 composite, we already have as many 4* (4) and 5* (1) commits as we did in all of last year's class.

I get that we want Tennessee to be successful and finally see results on the field. It's irrelevant if your class is top 5 if you cannot win football games, but I want Butch to succeed. If we are firing him that means we had another bad year. I'm ready for us to start living up to expectations, turn the corner, and be the Tennessee we once was. Vols or die. Vols by 100!

You hit the nail on the head when you said come back in a few months and let's see where this class is. Is Jones doing good things on the recruiting trail? Yes, is it to early to brag about having the number 7 class in the country? Hell yes, these kids haven't signed on the line yet.

I'll see ya in a couple of months, I bet our class looks stellar. We shall see. GBO!!!!

No one is coming to a conclusion! That is the whole point. We are happy about the great start. We all understand that it's how you finish that matters. Given a choice, I would rather be where we are RIGHT NOW than where Georgia is, for example. Obviously, we all want to be ahead of Georgia in February next year too.

I believe that you're wrong. If we tank this season, then I will be ready for the next guy too. I just happen to think that we will not tank and that Butch can get it done.

Took some onions for Butch to go with Scott over Z, that move is paying off in recruiting, if we move the ball this fall the class will be top 5 on the offensive side. Martinez and Mays are 5 star hearts and talents, that's 20 stars right there.
