Peyton did plenty to win that one. The broncos secondary just fell apart.
Peyton has been to the Super Bowl twice; won one. Has a career win % of about 75%. Been to the playoffs about ten times. Three time MVP. Pro bowl a dozen times.
I think ole peytie pie is doing ok for himself...
Are you trying to say it wasn't Peyton's fault? He played poorly yesterday, turned the ball over three times...but it's not his fault...never is...
I am about to throw some stats out just from memory. This is dangerous so please forgive me if I am off a little on the numbers.
While at UT, a RANKED team lead by Manning NEVER beat a higher ranked team. In fact, Manning's teams lost to several lower ranked teams including Memphis and Florida. Lets us not forget the embarrassments against higher ranked Florida and Nebraska.
So many fans bash other UT quarterbacks for not "getting it done" but many of those guys had the same sort of stats: they just didn't beat better teams.
As much as I like Manning for his class, longevity, sportsmanship, accolades, love for UT et al, I have never thought he was the game changing legend that others believe him to be.
I am very proud of him, to be sure, but find him to be simply mortal. Is that really so bad?
I love Peyton and think he is the greatest of all time and have always defended him against those naysayers that say he cant win the big one and always chokes. It would drive me crazy. But it is getting harder and harder to defend it and he has just added more fuel to the fire. Another loss to a team he was favored against and his last throw being an interception. These next few days will be brutal listening to the media.
