It is an opinion...It's my opinion that if we hold that lead against Ohio St in '07 we would have played Florida for the National Championship and had a decent chance...That's largely what message boards are for: Impossible to prove opinions.

Coach K had his back against the wall similar to Martin does now and went on a tear thru the ACC tournament during his first few years. He isnt coach K but the point is some people start to get it at the right time. Just saying...

Also, has this team even peaked this season? We've seen Martin teams finish ridiculously strong in the past so maybe their peaking at the right time.

2 great posts Shaun, it's why I've maintained to let him finish out the year and then make your decision on him. Still a lot of basketball left to be played and it's not called March Madness for no reason.

Let's see what happens the rest of the way.

no, actually what he said was a fact.......he never mentioned hopson's free throw.....a michigan state free throw kept us from a final four.

So if State misses that FT it's a fact that UT wins in OT? You guys must have a different definition of FACT than most people.

thats not what he said.....he said we were a free throw from the final four.....we lost by one free throw hence a free throw from the final four....FACT

Technically two free throws, since they don't advance ties. Unless there's some new rule that you made up.

No one said they didn't lose by that. What they're saying is it is not a fact that if that ONE free throw was not made that UT would've won. Because if that ONE free throw was not made, the game would've been tied, not W for the Vols. That last sentence is a fact for you.

What happens when you take that one free throw away from Michigan State, that you're so attached to? Does it automatically send UT to the Final Four? No? Didn't think so.

What does that matter.....it doesnt matter what would have happened if hopson hit his free throw and michigan state missed theirs bc none of that happened.Michigan state hit the free throw to win it....hence we were one free throw from a final four FACT

Because we needed 2 points to make the Final Four; hence, two free throws from a Final Four.

We were one free throw from OT.

It does matter. It is impossible to say that one free throw in UTs favor guarantees a Final Four appearance. UT was one bucket away from an Elite 8 against Ohio State. Fact. Because that one Ramar bucket sends them to the Elite 8.

Who freakin cares if we lost by 1 or 100. We didn't win the game and didn't go to a final four. Banner says Elite 8 (yes Kentucky we do that and yes were proud of it :))

If Hopson makes the 2nd free throw, Tennessee is up 70-69 and Michigan St. doesn't have the opportunity to get a rebound and push the ball up the floor and get fouled. I like our chances at that point with them having to call timeout and set something up, giving our defense a chance to get set.

Either way you argue it...and you fightin martins will...we were a made free throw from a potential final four visit.

Tear CBP down all you want and try to build your boy CCM up all you want, but the reality is you can't argue away the success his teams had. You don't have to like it, but it doesn't make it go away.

Not to mention if we hit both free throws they would have to inbound and we was the best at the trap defense.

Still doesn't make it a fact. Better chance, yes, but not a fact. That's the whole point. There's no way to prove that it would've happened that way.
