When there’s an opportunity to play a meaningless game against Gonzaga, giving the work to the expected primary lineup makes sense.

will get the majority of playing time in 2022-23.

Mashack is in the mix when JJJ is out and he’s probably versatile enough to fill in in other scenarios.

The other 3 - BJE, DJJ, and Awaka are the future and should get some work after the November and December buy games are well in hand. DJJ and BJE maybe ought to redshirt this year.

BJE is far behind SV, Key, and ZZ. Two of those will not be here next year. BJE is a big part of the future. If BJE plays a lot of minutes this season then somebody probably will be out with an injury or other reason. BJE won’t be jumping ahead of Key or Santi. If he really grows as a PG then his minutes could go up, but Key and Santi seem to be expected to fill in at PG duties when ZZ is out of games. Key looked like a star - he needs to be on the floor as much as possible until game outcomes are determined.

Drew Timme is big, but Uros is massive.

3 of the 4 freshmen should red shirt due to a lack of opportunity. We’ve got a deep and experienced roster.

Does anyone know for certain the red shirt rules in basketball? Can you participate in 1/3rd of the games and still RS similar to football?

He did not even play in the intersquad. Reading the clues I think there is some buy-in to how to do things the right way that is not there and they are going to use playing time as a carrot to motivate him. No playing time until then.

He had an injury that kept him out of intersquad scrimmage, not sure about last 2 though.
