Is that right? I find that incredible. If so, the Vols sold themselves way, way short just for some publicity.

Wouldn't it be half a home game since they would have to do a Home and Home with Va Tech normally. Also, how is this different than the NC State game last year or all the kickoff games that are done these days?

4 million minus expenses is pretty good money. I bet the profitt from a home game is not much more when tou factor in paying oppenent and cost of putting the game on.

Need to get your calculator out, if UT stays home to play a TN Tech in front of 80,000 fans we make half that, plus Game doesn't show up on Game day ...its almost a guarantee they are coming.

No greater money will be made over a home game. I think the Knoxville area will lose money (restaurants, hotels, parking, etc) compared to what little UT is going to get paid for the Bristol event.

Was looking at the economic impact study from ten years ago and each home game brought in $3 million dollars not counting ticket sales of another $3 million, concessions $343,000 and parking fee income that was not listed.

Yes, attendance is not as good as it was ten years ago but there is no advantage for UT to play the game at Bristol other than publicity. Considering all things money will be lost compared to if the game were played here.

UT rescheduled it's game at Nebraska in order to play the game in Bristol.

I'm guessing UT could have scheduled a cupcake home game.

I heard Hart say that today....there was an article last week that stated it would be a split of 20 million. Don't know what changed, but Hart would know. Three years out that figure will change I do believe. Fans should be happy about this and I am seeing a lot of complaints and whining about it.

Well, first of all we didn't give up a home game, we'll still have seven games in Neyland Stadium in 2016.

Second, $4 million is roughly the profit for a non-conference home game, so it's a push there. It's actually a great deal since Bristol is paying all of the travel costs, including arraigning lodging for the teams.

Sure, game profit can go as high as $7 million for a sold-out SEC game, but that requires a perfect storm of sorts. $4 million is much closer to the average.

You can't put a price tag on the publicity and recruiting advantage this thing will give us.

Just saying from a money making standpoint it is not good. Take a look at the economic impact studies for UT home games. Can't believe our AD would sell us this short but I guess we have become accustomed to that.

Some people....wow. Let me see if I get this straight....

- Largest venue to ever watch a football event (Sc_ew Mich and its "big house")
- Game day will be present (probably)
- At least 1 year of positive publicity in advance of the event
- Probably the night game on ESPN playing a nationally recognized team instead of playing "Tenn Techish" type team and perhaps only available on Pay-per-view
- Recruiting bananza
- Kicks off college football season
- Home designee
-$4+ million in revenue

Yep, this stinks. What lame-brain thought of this?

Well they may lose money, we don't exactly know yet. Don't think UT admin is worrying about area hotels and bars...or parking. the payout is worth the exposure.

Your impact study is ten years old. Yes it is somewhat relevant....but.................................................!

And...publicity IS HUGE THESE DAYS....just so you know.
