I don't want to make a new thread so does anyone have a idea of what coaches will be on staff under HC TV??

He said in presser or one of his interviews that he hoped to bring very experienced coaches, at least one with HC experience.

I also loved that he talked about loyalty, creating strong recruiting ties and relationships, and adding more power to the lineup with powerful pitchers on the mound. I think we got us a good one boys. (And girls).

I'm with you O&W. Love the excitement & energy Coach V expressed. His comment about the park being small and Arkansas having its best round of BP at Lindsey Nelson Stadium was funny- tells me small ball is not part of his philosophy; Big arms and big bats-awesome!

Now, if we can get him to X-out the dang 24-7 stirrup nonsense we’ll be in business:thumbsup:

I think the fences could be pushed back a bit at LNS to make it more of a pitchers park.... Lindsey Nelson Stadium reminds me of Sun Trust Park where the hitters have the advantage and you need to have ground ball type pitchers to win.

I like the orange jacket but I was really hoping he'd be wearing this.

Can't do a thing about the fences in right and right center. They are already butted up against the street. Move the fences back and there is no room for the lights and scoreboard supports.

Center to left are already deep enough, and with the porches in left it wouldn't be doable, anyway. It's a good size college baseball park.

Coach Kent Murphy breaks it down from a fundamental standpoint...

one of my favorite videos on Bunting......WARNING, NOT SAFE FOR WORK OR KIDS and may offend some adults..........

The fences were moved in when I was in school 10-12 years ago and the streets were already there. There is room to be moved back because, to my knowledge, the area behind the stadium hasn't changed any. It may not have been an adjustment to the entire outfield but I remember Delmonico commenting we had one of the deepest fields in the SEC once he got to looking into why many teams were hitting more HR than we were.

Coach Murphy was my first choice but I'm sure we'll be ok.
I love his tutorials.

There is maybe 8 feet of space between the fence and the street. The max you can move the fence is about 5 feet. Then you have the expense of moving the scoreboard, too.

Just not a reasonable suggestion for what you would get in return.

It hasn't seemed to help us hit them out being pulled in anyway. Sure wouldn't do us any good pushing them back.

It was very possible only LF that was brought in back then and the porch wasn't there when I was in school.

Pretty sure that was the case. It used to be easier to hit it out of the Grand Canyon than it was to hit it out of the LF power alley. The alley used to be in the 385-390ish range, if memory serves.

It was shortened when the built the porch.

Old Bama coach all I have heard

I heard this too and I am curious if anyone knows why?

When Mitch Gaspard was HC at Bama I heard very good things from players and parents. He was well liked by many.

Looking at what I could find, he is known for strong recruiting, but nothing significant on hitting or pitching. Maybe I missed something.

If it is for his experience building facilities and more recruiting horsepower in SEC then great, but sure hope the new staff has some experts in developing the players once we get them.

The fences have never been moved in. The porches were built behind the existing wall.

The dimensions of the park changed when the seats behind home plate were added several years ago. Home plate was moved out toward the wall to accommodate the construction of the MVP seats. The dugouts were moved out as well.

Fences move in, home plate moved out.

POtato. PoTAto.

Bottom line - the dimensions were shortened.

But thanks for the correction.

Vitello said in an interview with Basillio that a pitcher for the 2017 class is visiting Monday.

Yeah, that was a good interview...S&C Coach interviewing this weekend too.

He interviewed with Heather Harrington this morning too. I think he was in Nashville watching the PBR prospect games yesterday.

Yeah I listened to that one too, but they asked almost the same questions as John and Jimmy the day before.
