Vols land Oregon State CB transfer Jermod McCoy

Don't overlook the fact that Jonathan Smith brought the Oregon State football program back from the deep depths of irrelevance, and in his two seasons as DC Trent Bray had the #16 defense in 2022 and #34 defense in 2023. This is at a program often overlooked as a perpetual "little brother" and, if you pay any attention to the PAC12, you know the offenses are nothing to joke around with.

Point I'm making here is if they're confident enough to have McCoy starting for them, I'm confident that he's a real good player.
Bray is a great coach. He is an OSU guy through and through but the man can coach.

I’m interested to see how he does taking over as head coach. Gonna have to bring in some good offensive minds. It’s too bad their QB-in-waiting went to Michigan State with Smith (who I’m also really excited to see in the Big 10).

I feel like he is a guy who would hire someone unconventional.

Sorry to get off subject.

the biggest challenge our defensive staff will have this guy is getting him to shake that whole looking for the ball when it's coming toward him thing. If they can get rid of that, which I have no doubts they will remove that from his Arsenal day one. Then we'll be right on pace for our usual outstanding pass defense.

Bru actually played at USC, not Oregon. So they could relive past Trojan- Beaver interactions. I’ll just leave that with you with no further comment. 😉

I meant Thornton and McCoy could relive Beaver-Ducks interactions,

Thanks for correcting my oversight.
