ll three scholarship QBs were dressed out and taking reps during individual drills today. J.T. Shrout was the first QB taking reps in routes on air. Brian Maurer was the first QB up in team drills.
Jeremy Pruitt was working briefly with the OL and DL during the open periods today before going back to DBs, where he usually spends much of his time during the first part of practice.
Jauan Jennings also got a rep with routes on air. He threw a deep ball and hit it. Then he ran the same route and caught one from Shrout.

This football season has reached a point where Jauan Jennings is throwing the ball one rep and catching the ball the next rep. And where Jarrett Guarantano is repping at QB with a hilariously large glove on his non-throwing hand.

During individual work with the tailbacks, Guarantano, who sported a big white brace on his left hand/wrist that Rob Lewis deemed the Luke Skywalker hand, was very careful with the handoffs. He didn’t take nearly as many reps as Maurer or Shrout, either.
When the quarterbacks moved to routes on air, Shrout when first in the pass skeleton drill, with Maurer and Guarantano following suit. The group was solid overall, but the highlight of the period was Jauan Jennings taking a few reps at quarterback and chucking it deep, including hitting Tyler Byrd in stride on a seam route. On the very next rep, Jennings ran an in-route and caught a pass from Guarantano.
As we were leaving the field, Maurer took the first-team reps during 11-on-11 work.
Darnell Wright and Jahmir Johnson were observers as the rest of the unit worked under the watchful eye of Will Friend.
Quavaris Crouch was back at outside linebacker working with Chris Rumph’s unit. Crouch saw just four snaps Saturday, as the Vols were hesitant to take Daniel Bituli or Henry To’oto’o off the field. Meanwhile, Darrell Taylor was sporting a huge black brace on his left knee/leg but was going through individual work.

Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt on Monday said outside linebacker Darrell Taylor (knee) and offensive tackle Darnell Wright (ankle) would be day to day this week, and the Vols were taking it easy with both starters on Tuesday afternoon.
Tennessee usually practices in full pads on Tuesdays, so the Vols taking things a little bit lighter is a sign of Pruitt trying to keep his team fresh coming off four straight SEC games ahead of their fifth game in as many weeks.
Freshman Brian Maurer indeed was practicing and would appear to be on track to start against UAB.
Jennings at one point during routes-on-air stepped in to take a rep at quarterback, much to the surprise of quarterbacks coach Chris Weinke, and threw a dart down the seam on point to his intended target. Jennings then gave Weinke a playful slap to his chest and jumped back in the receiver line, ran a route and caught a pass. Jennings tossed another couple of passes later in the session.
Freshman wide receiver Jerrod Means, who sat out the South Carolina game, was going through drills and routes-on-air on Tuesday, but didn't look 100 percent healthy while doing so.

I'm waiting for a JJ pass to get deflected, then Jauan Jennings catch it, and makes an amazing TD run.

I know Pruitt said that JG had the surgery and would be ready to go, but that wrist is held together by a screw so it’s going to be compromised. Forgot the nature of the injury Erik Ainge incurred in his junior season, but he had a devil of a time taking the snap under center and it can’t be easier trying to secure it out of the shotgun.

Don't think Fingers added it, but here were Rutherford's practice notes:

Practice Notes: Brian Maurer Gearing Up, Key Vols Limited | RTI

At quarterback, both Brian Maurer and Jarrett Guarantano went through individual drills. Both signal callers are injured, and head coach Jeremy Pruitt said Guarantano would be limited to start practice this week after having surgery on his left wrist on Sunday.

The quarterback order through the drills was usually JT Shrout, Guarantano, Maurer, then wide receiver Jauan Jennings. Maurer went first a couple times, but Shrout — who was the first true quarterback to take a snap on Saturday — was typically the first one up for the individual periods

Jennings going through quarterback drills is noteworthy. The redshirt senior played several snaps as a wildcat quarterback against the Gamecocks on Saturday, and it appears the coaches are getting him ready for more of that same role moving forward.

Both Darnell Wright and Jahmir Johnson were limited on Tuesday. Wright exited Saturday’s game in the first half and never returned to the contest. Johnson has been limited multiple times this fall in practices, and he missed a handful of games earlier this season.
