The one bright side of this is having Us and OSU as the talked about teams with the narrative being "OSU should clearly host the game with the better resume". I like that type of bulletin board material for our guys going into a road playoff game to show the world the Vols have arrived.ESPN has low balled us all season on their rankings
Disagree with u…. Oregon beats penn state they drop below us….. they have played absolutely joke of a schedule ….. Texas beats Georgia they will drop below us with 3 losses no matter they beat us….the committee said they was not going punish a team for playing extra game , that meant. By knocking them out of the playoff . That won’t happen but they will drop seeding accordinglyI don't think you understand how the cfp rankings work at all. There is zero chance the vols can be 5 and almost no chance they can be 6 or 7. 8 is possible. ND will be 5, 6, or 7. One of Penn State or Oregon will be 5 or 6. And UGA or Texas will most likely be 7.
Espn has already set the narrative that OSU will not fall below us. Everyone needs to accept that.
The only way we could host now is PSU or UGA Or TX getting absolutely demolished in the title game and they drop one of them below us.
you can't take away their wins over PSU and Indiana though. and Michigan isnt "terrible", they are 7-5The fact that Ohio State only fell a few spots to a terrible Michigan team, without their two best players, on their field being massive favorites should give you concern on what the committee does.
The dominant win osu has over Indiana should not weigh that high . Indiana has beaten absolutely no one with a pulse.I want a home playoff game in Neyland more than anyone, but I'm pretty bearish......
Ohio has a road win over #4 and a dominant win over #11. Our best win is over #13.
Yes the optics of Ohio losing to michigan at home is very bad, but everyone has a bad loss, ourselves included. I think there's a lot of emotional reaction to punish Ohio in the rankings for that loss, but as a few days pass and you really look at the resumes on paper, their resume is better than ours (yes, I do think B1G is overrated and PSU and Indiana are not as good as their actual rankings, but it is what it is).
Hope I'm wrong, and hope the committee puts emphasis on the recency of their Michigan loss
