That’s not accurate. There’s no scenario where only Tenn and Alabama finish tied. In a multi team tie there are tiebreakers that will eventually get down to common opponent record. Alabama is going to have the strongest of the teams that finish 6-2. We are going to have one of the worst which is why beating UGA is so important. We don’t fair well tied with three or four other SEC teams. The SEC tie breaker does not consider the CFP rankings. It is a very complicated set of rules that generally looks at inter conference play.
I will not even pretend to understand them all - but I do know it is not about the highest two ranked CFP teams with the tiebreaker process.
If we end up in a tiebreaker with Bama - we are in the SEC championship game. Bama is probably hoping for chaos as is Ole Miss and now UGA because the multi-team selection is insane.
And the problem with the SEC tiebreaker rules is that I don't think they really considered the possibility of possibly 7 teams being 6-2. The rules are more for 2 to 3 teams where you can use head-to-head and common opponents.
It would be a tangled mess.
Indiana plays The Ohio State this weekend. If they can beat them, I will give them respect, but I don't see it happening. Here is the quote you are referring to, absolute garbage, SMU and Kansas State? Really? No mention of us beating Bama? Whatever. BYU and Indiana would be .500 teams in the SEC.
On BYU and Indiana moving up while Tennessee stayed put with blowout win:
"I can say no to the injury to Tennessee's quarterback. It had nothing to do with it. It really came down to the play last week of both Indiana and BYU, both winning big games on their schedule. Tennessee, the offense has struggled some the second half of the season, not being consistent early in the year, and we just felt as a committee that at this time Indiana has been playing very well, a close win against Michigan, but other than that, they've dominated everyone they've played. BYU, obviously undefeated, two wins against top-25 opponents, at SMU and against Kansas State. In looking at it, as we assessed all the teams, we just felt that Indiana and BYU earned the 5 and the 6 slot, and Tennessee stayed where they are."
The number 1 tie breaker for sec championship game is head to head. That’s not accurate. There’s no scenario where only Tenn and Alabama finish tied. If they get beat by 20 and the Vols lose a close one, should a 1-loss Indiana be ranked above a 2-loss Tennessee? I'm thinking absolutely not, but the latest CBS projection has Indiana in and Tennessee out. Doesn't seem fair since their best win is against 5-4 Nebraska.Have you watched them at all?
They are absolutely not a joke.
They play Ohio State this weekend.
Everyone we’ll see how good they are.
