This might be the most absurd thing I’ve read on this board, and that’s saying something. You and many others are unable to think rationally because there’s absolutely nothing you can do about our ranking and the loss to Arkansas that led to it.
We were #3 when we lost that game. If we were 9-0 right now we’d be no worse than #2, and everyone knows it.
My issue is BYU and IU were behind us in the rankings last week. Them beating two avg teams at best shouldn't catapult them in front of us when we won our game handedly.
We aren't beating GA. May as well get that out of your head. You know.... just once I would like Coach after we beat the brakes of JawJaw Saturday. Refuse to take questions at the post game and say something extremely sarcastic, like "what are you all doing here.... you didn't believe in us last week or before that....why don't you go interview one of your golden child teams" then drop the mic and walk out
They had to drop GA behind Ole Miss and Ala because of head to head. Just like they can't drop us behind Ala because of head to head.Dude, UGA was 3rd then dropped 9 spots to 12 and out. They have the best win of the season and their 2 losses are to #10 and #11 on the road. Compare that to the Vols if we lose to UGA. We will have a worse loss and a lower ranked top win. Doesn’t matter if we are ranked 5th or 7th, if we lose they will drop us at least 8 spots.
I share that issue. To add to it, I don't think BYU really beat Utah as much as they were aided by a very questionable at best holding call that should have sealed the game for Utah(who is no better than Arkansas). My issue is BYU and IU were behind us in the rankings last week. Them beating two avg teams at best shouldn't catapult them in front of us when we won our game handedly.
I agree with this. However, they did jump South Carolina ahead of LSU in spite of the head to head and both teams having three losses. That is one of the biggest issues I have with the committee every year. They selectively apply their stated metrics to fit whatever result they prefer. This is also why I don't think the "eye test" has any business being used as a determining factor when comparing teams. If it was used correctly, it would be perfectly fine. The way the committee uses it, if they cannot come up with quantifiable data to support their opinion, they just simply say they used the "eye test". The goal post is constantly moving in regards to which reasoning they apply when comparing teams. For an example, Army and Indiana have both played bad schedules, both are undefeated, and Army has won every game by double digits while never trailing in a game. However, Indiana is ranked #5 while Army is #24.They had to drop GA behind Ole Miss and Ala because of head to head. Just like they can't drop us behind Ala because of head to head.
You’re right, we were #4. We dropped again after the Florida game because we again looked like crap against a far inferior team with a coach on the verge of being fired. After we beat a legitimate Alabama team the next week, we popped back up to #7.We were #4 not #3. We fell to 8/9. Then we dropped again to 10/11 over a bye week which did not make sense at all. We jumped back to 7/8 after we beat Alabama. At the time we played Arkansas, they were not viewed as that bad of a team.
A one loss UGA team would have jumped back over us after beating Texas because they beat the team that was number 1 at the time. Oregon would have jumped us after beating OSU. OSU would have moved up after beating PSU because of the "quality win". This is how the committee is explaining the movement of IU and BYU.
Had we not lost we would be no greater than 3 maybe even as low as 5 right now.
Bottom line we were penalized for the Arkansas loss once and we have won every game after that - most teams move up as a result and don't drop over a bye week.
This is why Bama is going to be in the SEC title game if there’s a multi team tie.Bama's also currently beaten 4 teams currently ranked in the committee's rankings: #12 Georgia (7-2), #21 South Carolina (6-3), #22 LSU (6-3), #23 Missouri (7-2). That's alot of what keeps buoying them up so much at 2 losses.
Does anyone else in the current rankings even have 3 wins against currently ranked teams?
The SEC tie breaker does not consider the CFP rankings. It is a very complicated set of rules that generally looks at inter conference play. This is why Bama is going to be in the SEC title game if there’s a multi team tie.
