'24 Vols Transfer Offers

Sounds like (based on offers)

We want:

1 TE
1 guard/IOL
1 WR
1 Safety/Star
1 Corner
1 edge rusher

6-7 spots to fill transfer needs
TE: Staes or Dingle
IOL: Jalen Farmer
WR: Chris Brazzell
Safety: Trey Jones
Corner: Jerod McCoy
Edge: Fadil Diggs

If Tate does end up leaving UGA, you take him as well. Snag McKinley as well. Dream finish

If all this happens, I’d ****.

Outside of Tight End, that seems like a very underwhelming group for a team that wants to compete for championships. We need immediate impact players from the portal. Instead I see guys who may turn out well or may be a depth piece. Not proven enough in my opinion. Especially if these guys are seeking out NIL money.

All of those players would be immediate impact
Sorry, I hit enter before finished my thought. Sure, these guys might have an inpact. They might compete for starting time. Might is the key word. But would any of these guys be adds for Georgia or Bama, Ohio State, Michigan, Texas etc?

We need championship quality players. Instead we are letting developmental guys walk for only slight upgrades. These slight upgrades end up taking up time and reps from young development guys. They leave their previous program exoecting NIL money and substabtial playing time. If we are going to add such guys, I'd prefer we do it with significant talent upgrades. At least our initial targets. If we miss, then ok, go after what's left. But we are targeting 3 star talent.

I bet you will complain about anyone we get from the portal.
Absolutley not. That is utterly ridiculous. I'm only complaining becuase I think we are on the verge of competing for championships and are only a few players away from that. There is a gap of talented upperclassman the next year or two. We NEED to hit the transfer portal hard to close this gap until our higher rated recruiting classes (2023, 2024, and on) develop and get older.

We barely played our freshmen DBs. What's the backup plan if they're not ready? What about depth? You bring in guys who can compete and push the young talent to improve.

We're pursuing talent at WR and TE. Still waiting for us to pursue talent at interior OL and DL
Looks like we're focusing on FCS talent? Might be depth and it comes at a much lower price? Spitballing. Trying to make sense of things.

UGA and others want McCoy

Therein lies the problem, "trying to make sense of things". Good with our TE targets. Good with our WR target. Good with Diggs, and McCoy, and the Mississippi State corner. Need to target better OL and S.

McCoy is going to be very good. Numerous programs want him. USC. Oklahoma. Oregon. Much rather have him that what they've had in the secondary.

What does this even mean? Want to offer an actual rebuttal? Or do you just want to stick with the childish insults?

And btw, I work for myself and set my own standard of excellence to achieve. No need to spend my life working to fulfill someone else's dream. I think and do for myself.

Too bad we can't get Samantha Stephens to help us out. Reality is that we are a program that hasn't won our conference in 25 years, just came out of a dumpster fire of a decade and have some NCCA penalties lingering. While many on this board think a kid would be crazy to not want to come and play here, many of the top recruits think it would be crazy to do so. They see the last decade - not our long past history. They see that 26 Vols have been drafted into the NFL over the last decade while schools like Bama (90), LSU (73), Georgia (67), Florida (61), Ohio State (78), Michigan (59), Clemson (55), Oklahoma (51) are factories for putting players into the NFL. It's a tough sell to get a five star to even look at us - let alone sign - when they are advised to go to a proven commodity. Kind of amazing we have commitments from 2 coming off an 8-4 season.

Keep in mind that this is this staff's third class to sign ('24) so our coaches were only a year or two behind the recruiters from all the other schools in making contact with these kids and building relationships.

Our composite talent ranking had us 6th in the SEC for 2023. Of course, adding Texas and Oklahoma means we'll probably be 8th in 2024 (7th if Florida drops below us). We can't just snap our fingers and get players here - the coaches are working very hard, but it will take time. We need another year like last season's 11-2 finish to get the elite recruits thinking about us as a program.
