'24 Vols Transfer Offers

I don’t understand how this portal crap works. I’ve spent more time than I’d like to admit looking at players at positions of need. Whether big names that I’ve heard on here or not, and I just don’t understand what causes a staff to reach out to some and not others. For example, there are pages of corners on there that are undecided from big schools, small schools and everywhere in between and I’ve heard maybe 3 of those names mentioned. I even looked at our pipleline states and still plenty.
Just read some of the posters on here. Some are convinced they know more than the coaching staff, yet they've never looked at film, other than highlight films, never done background checks, never talked to their HS coaches, and have better short-term and long-term blueprints than the coaches. So if you want to know how the portal works ask the "experts".

It is hilarious the level of incompetence by those posters who ironically scream about the incompetence of the coaching staff.

The SS’s from Jolly telling a fan they turned him down because they thought they had the ND transfer in the bag was posted on twitter
This neglects to mention Joly is a pass catching tight end and we need one that can do it all.

That naturally puts Staes and Dingle out front.

This post was a preemptive 'shhhhhhhh' for all of the opinions that do not matter.

Can I just say thank you for the OP of this.
i LOVE our new ORANGE helmet and hate that so many in our fan base “blamed” one of our worst losses ever on this helmet. I really hope we will wear it again in an OOC game that we are expected to easily win to rub off the bad juju. Would love to wear this helmet in ONE game per season.

I truly don’t understand this. People in all sports crave a majority “older” group for maturity and experience. But when they aren’t first round picks, we were too loyal to them? Who would you have replaced in our secondary this year with younger guys? You find a secondary that plays a ton of young guys, freshman, Rfresh and sophomores and I bet you find a bad defense/team.

They don’t have to be first round draft picks, but they should be SEC caliber. If they can’t track the ball in the air, or make decent tackling angles then try playing the younger guys. If the younger guys can’t show some promise then use the portal.

What if it’s not a talent issue but a coaching issue or some combination of both? Who knows? We stuck with the older guys most of the time so it’s difficult to tell.

After watching Jordan Dingle a little bit that guy is way more athletic than I remembered. Some real catch n run ability to be 240lbs and can do all the stuff Fant did. Maybe better.

I don’t necessarily disagree with the logic, but don’t you think if the coaches seem them perform in practice and earned their trust the would play more? Or do you think a lot of it is just because they are young? If I had to bet I would say 90% of it isn’t really talent as much of it is processing the play and playing fast at the same time. Being able to get a check on a certain formation/ motion and still being able to perform. Who knows

About to find out what other staffs think of the older guys talent when we see where they land out of the portal

So you think they told jolly.
“No thanks. We have the ND guy coming” or do you think maybe it was “we’re going a different direction “ and the rest is speculation on the part of someone spurned ?
Well you’ve got to admit, it’s not to hard to draw that conclusion.
