'24 Vols Transfer Offers

Dude just stop overreacting to a guy wanting to take more visits. That’s what the transfers tend to do. We will get who we want we just gotta be patient. Alabama hasn’t gotten anybody in the portal yet either, and that’s because they want to retain their roster like us. I think the teams that prioritize current players on the roster will end up being better in the long run. Teams that stack up portal guys will be better in the short term. Also, we are targeting portal guys who have multiple years still to play. We haven’t gone after many one year rentals.

A&M already has two guys silent commit to them, both DBs. I wonder who they are?

One was Will Lee, the other? I wonderrr, maybe the guy visiting them?

You get a kid like that on campus, you lock them down.

Listen man that’s not how it always works, and “silent commit” doesn’t always mean “silent commit”. I see you in the basketball recruiting talk and the football recruiting talk and you get really excited about certain guys and that’s ok, but in all reality most of those guys aren’t going to end up here. Last year we got some really solid transfer portal additions, and a lot of them were low key. Also, several of them are back for a second season! Campbell, Thornton, karic, Pili, etc. My point in all this is that we don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes, and we just hear what VQ and 247 knows. A good example is the DB from MTSU that was going to visit and then ended up committing to Oregon State. I don’t think that was his choice. I think we are pretty sure we have better guys on the line that we can get, so I’m just trying to be patient like the rest of volnation lol. I’m hoping Dingle or Staes pulls the trigger this weekend, because both of those guys would be solid portal additions. We will start getting guys soon though.

To this day I’m still mad at Barnes. Kid went 20/7/5 against Arky and ProvIMG_2090.jpeg

Maybe but we paid our Oline and Dline. If we wanted them bad enough, would we have paid them more or do we feel like we can get equal or better for less $$
We’re obviously shopping for value additions as opposed to paying any price for the first thing we see - seems like good business to me.

False

If we had Bama's or Georgia's talent level, I'd much rather be in that group. But we don't have Bama's or Georgia's talent level.
Yeah, we need to add some playmakers, no doubt. I’m really glad we’ve been able to keep a lot of players too, but we have too many holes to stand pat.

I think we’ll end up adding 4-5, so I’ll reserve judgment until we see who we end up with.

My HOPE (and it's just a hope at this point) is we are trying to duplicate the model of what the Patriots did for a long time. You keep your prized QB at all costs. You keep your core guys as long as you can, but if you can't match the offer or won't because the price is too high, you let them go. You replace them with high value guys who fit your system and culture, even when other teams make the splashier signing.

I believe this is what Heupel is going for. It's a smart system. Can they pull it off? I don't know, but Heupel is winning at a higher clip here than any coach since Fulmer so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt at this point. Now if we're sitting here in a week with still no portal signings, yeah I'll be worried.

Silent commits? Lol this guy, we could field an All Pro NFL team based off of "silent commits"

coaches wanted some of them but didn’t want to pay the price for them. Wouldn’t really call that telling them to go somewhere, more like mutual parting of ways
(Back to the original point...) Which probably hurt their feelings.

Folks in here acting like we're circling the toilet because our staff are pushovers. I see no real evidence of either.

How we have heard nothing about us reaching/not reaching out to Nyland green is mind boggling.

In the same vein, if we were to get Staes/a starting OL/green/dumas-Johnson, I would do jumping jacks for 5 hours straight and take back every bad word I’ve ever said about this staffs portal strategy.

Come on Weezer ... The principle in play is "Think about, bring about." We do not want to be running around like our hair is on fire ... that leads off into a really bad environment.
If you hang out with "smart money folks" you learn to be "smart money folk." Act like what you want to be and you will become what you are acting like.
So, let's all act like we have a little patience, on the outside. And the calm will finally settle in. :^)

Not sure what you want the coaches can do about it--NIL is here to stay. Some people in any organization (NFL, business) are always jealous of others who make more. It's up to the coaches to manage the locker room and tell a kid who's overplaying his NIL hand to hit the road.
Ya….i was talking about our approach which is to take care of ours first vs their approach which is to buy outsiders.

I think our approach is better for the team and the locker room
