Vols vs Austin Peay: Offense (video)

The touchdown pass to D. Young in the first and then the touchdown pass to P. Howard to start the 2nd, the rb was lined up behind the qb but other than those two plays and a few others you would have a good guess as to run or pass just based on how we lined up. Really hoping that it is just due to us being so vanilla and we really begin to mix it up this week.

I'm certain this offense will have different looks out of the same base alignment. But the basic zone read will be the bread and butter it seems, and if an opposing team is unable to stop it (especially an overmatched team like Austin Peay), there's really no reason to get tricky or cute.

We saw a few of the possibilities such as the hand off to Devrin Young---who came in motion from the slot, the reverse to Howard, play action, and the screen pass.

We also saw a glimpse of the "Shotgun Split Slot" as I called it here, where Neal and Lane were both lined up in the backfield. Actually, that's the play where Lane scored his first touchdown.
