Just returned from my grand daughter's lacrosse game and surprised at the win.Scanning the posts in tis thread it appears someone hit a grand slam. Can some one give cliff notes on that inning ....there is nothing yet written on UTsports .com
Moss came back in the seventh which was a strange move to me but after a walk she strikes out the next batter. The next batter hits one to third and Seggern goes to second for the force. Gregg tries to make the throw to first and it is wild and over first base. Florida runner takes off for second ball takes a bounce off the dugout right into Bearden the first basemen's glove and she throws a strike to second to gun down the Florida runner. Game over.
Thanks !!Strange inning first two batters easy groundouts. Then Ralph pinch hits Batts who rips a solid single to right center. Up comes McClain and beats one into the ground easily beats the throw to first. Leach walks to load the bases. Then Geer comes up gets the count to 1 ball and 2 strikes and crushes one. Tennessee 4 Florida 1.
To add Moss gives up homer and double in second inning to Florida. Ralph changes to Arnold who shuts down Florida for five innings. We also picked up a run in the sixth on an error by florida then a double by Seggern runner thrown out at the plate Seggern took third and scored on another Florida error.
Ralph bringing Moss back at the start of the inning to me was indeed strange, and I may add the wrong thing to do at the time. Arnold had them off stride and pitches working well. If it had ended any other way he would have a hard time explaining the move. Worked out because of a perfect bounce off the dugout and a cannon throw from Bearden. I also really felt that the runner thrown out at the plate should have been held up with the one out because McClain got a hit that may have scored both the 2nd and 3rd base runners. I know every run against the Gators is important but giving up outs is dangerous. Great win.:loco::loco:
Walton did do us a favor--if the series had been tied, we'd have seen The Replanter again. Even so, we desperately needed this win after three bad games in a row--needed it for our self-confidence, mostly, and for SEC ranking, and for national respect. We played like *****cats in the first two games.
I think given A&M losing the series vs UK today the series next weekend may be for a top 8 seed
Yes I agree but really don't understand why todays pitcher has not pitched any SEC games at all before today. She was and still is a stud and ERA less than the lefthander we faced yesterday. Not just in this series it just befuddles me why we have a catcher and first baseman that cannot hit a lick. Vines at first not withstanding. Lockman who is a good defensive catcher is a junior to be and Rowland a second year freshman both look like hitters but rarely follow the ball from the pitchers hand. It seems their theory to hitting is to swing hard cause I may hit it. I am still somewhat concerned with Seggern as well but I think she will show up more next year. I know we are a young team as a whole but if I am not mistaken the Gators starts 3 freshmen and 1 senior so they are not old hands either.
needs a little more patience and poise at the plate. She gets panicky when she gets two strikes and then swings at the next pitch, wherever it is, and strikes out. I'm still optimistic about Rowland, though she hasn't done anything in quite some time. She's got a nice stance, swing and looks the part of hitter. She may still be adjusting to SEC pitching--I seem to recall her being late on a lot of swings (fouls going off to the left). But, yea, this is a problem area for us. I'm sure the Weeklys expected to get a lot more out of those two. The bottom of the order IS a problem. McLain somehow got 3 hits today. Thank goodness McSwain started hitting. I thought we'd see Reimer again today--she is a pretty decent hitter, from what I've seen.

In the 6th, she walked a batter and then gave up a double. Though she got the pop up and the ground out to get out of it, Florida was figuring her out and it looked like she was starting to lose the pop on her pitches.
I disagreed with it at the time, but I watched it again on the DVR and it makes a lot more sense watching on TV that it did from the bleachers.
Like I said ....Fla will have to beat themselves and they did against both SEC losses.

Agreed...I did not know at the time but the batters Moss faced except the last one had not seen her in the game....Great heads up by Ralph and Karen
Yea, we need to be ready to play and play well this coming weekend. Need to get the offense going again, though I'm sure a&m has good pitching as well. I do think the coaches need to bolster our team's confidence whenever possible. Ralph is always talking about how good/great everybody else is. He's a bit too gentlemanly at times for my taste. Even if florida has an exceptional team, you--as a rival coach--don't need to rave about them, as we could be playing them again.
