Tried watching this, but got too depressed seeing where we are now compared with what we used to be.

Gillespie should show this film of Stephens to our current RBs! On another note, I beat Travis Stephens in a table tennis match at Gibbs hall in 1998. : )

Coach Gillespie probably wants to forget this game...don't see him using it as a teaching tool

Enjoyed watching it again last night and Stephens ran like a beast! The only back we've had in the last 13 years that could cone close to the kind of backs we used to have is Hardesty!

The classic 2001 game is on right now. Interesting to watch our current RB coach play for UF against the Vols.

That team hit like some of the old TN teams in my heyday, Kiner, Reynolds, Bobby Majors, Bill Bates, pleasure watching it.

Brings back memories of UT actually playing great defense - I miss the Chief (and CPF) so much :cray:

Grossman fumbled twice. The second one was even more clear. Bad calls by the ref. The UT d-line was serious business back then.

Secondary and safeties were serious business as well. Almost always in the right place against a great offense - should have had 3 ints in that game but even though they did not hold on to the ball the key is that they were always lined up right so kudos to the Chief for the great game plan.

Also people who criticize the Chief for being overly conservative and/or always playing bend and don't break only need to watch this game to see how wrong they are. Talk about getting after the QB from all angles and hitting him over and over again! :)

No disrespect to Chief but it helps when you have guys like John Henderson back there. When is the last time we had a really really good pass rusher?

There is some truth to that but I think if we had Chief during the last 3-4 years (especially last 2) it would have made all the difference - even with lesser talent. He just knew how to line people up to always have a chance to make a play, and he mixed things up and confused QB's (can still see all that when you watch LSU defenses since he moved there).

Speaking of LSU...the next game was a glaring example of why the Chief received so much criticism
