I look at some of these post and dont know wether to laugh or be embarrased to be a VOLS fan!! Derek Dooley is an outstanding coach who inhereted an absolute mess. He took the job when nobody else wanted to touch it! It's the trash talk like what goes on in these forums that have the program where it is now! All I heard was fire Fullmer!! Fire Fulmer!! All he did was win 2 out of every three SEC games he coached. But a couple down seasons and most said he was done. Give me a break. Before you go firing somebody you need to understand what the consequenses could be. Getting rid of Dooley now is the absolte wrong decision!!! Dooley deserves a minimum of at least one more year to get results on the field. Do you honestly believe the program is not in better shape now than when he took over? If not, you need to look at something other than wins and losses. The man has done a fantastic job trying to resurect a once powerful program. Rome was not built in a day people!!!! If he does for some reason get fired, Im sure his next program will be successful under his leadership if he is given the proper amount of time!!

(2) Should Dooley lose one game, then Hart will look to replace him. If a better coach is not interested in U.T., then Dooley will stay., by default.

(3) Should Dooley lose more than one game and we don't qualify for a bowl game. then Dooley will be gone, regardless of who the new coach will be....

Good Lord, where to start. We definitely dont have a top 5flight Coaching Staff. Winning out against Troy, Mizzou, Vandy and UK arent career savings wins. But most importantly is all the empty seats and can almost guarantee we arent winning out. Vandy is playing their best FB right now and want this game bad and its in Nashville. We really should have lost to them at home last year. And honestly I can see Mizzou beating us. They played UF much better than we did and if Franklin doesnt throw so many int's they beat UF in the swamp.

I think maybe because we played probably the toughest if not top 3 toughest schedules in the country this year. AL, FL, GA, SC all ranked within top 7 at some point this year and MSSt undefeated when we played them. We did not look abysmal against GA and SC offensively.

Which one of these given where our team is should we have won? AL=NO FL=NO SC=NO GA=NO MSSt = Probably. Concur if our defense was close to last years we could have won 3 of these losses. No one is doubting that. But we weren't favored in any of these games regardless.

Kind of a mix bag this year with defense flopping so much. Say what you will but we have not suffered the blowouts we did last year.

Last year we suffered blowouts of 49-7, 37-6, 38-7.

The devil you know vs the devil you don't know... The devil we know, Dooley (not calling him a devil) is responsible for the flailing defense, and is responsible for the upsurge in offense. Why not give him a chance to fix the defense next year? Anyone really think he will take no action to right the ship?

Given this scenario if Dooley announces a Big Time Defensive Coordinator hire at the end of the season, and 2 out of 3 of Bray, Hunter and Patterson announce they are staying I bet this board will light up with how we can win 10 games next year. We aren't short on skill positions on offense (although we need a big time running back). That type of hire could bring in some real D talent (which I don't think we are lacking.. what is lacking is coaching on the D Side).

This year point total through 9 games 331. Last year through 9 games 172.. 159 point difference.

Keep the O, Fix the D. 9 wins next year.

Think of it this way. Bring in a new coach and you don't know what will happen D could get better and the O could go to hell.

I might agree with you, but it's been proven that MSU was never as good as their 7-0 record suggested. Tennessee is, and probably will be, their best win on the year.

As far as the games that Tennessee "should have" or "should not have" won: it's kind of irrelevant. The fact is, with the exception of Bama, Tennessee COULD have won them all, but found a way not to. It's also the case that Tennessee COULD have lost to Troy.

Been following recruiting since @1997. Worst class at this point in 15 YEARS easily. I know the stars don't matter argument, but 2* players are highly unlikely to develop into viable SEC talent. Good news is we have a bunch of them so we will get at least one sleeper. Boom!(sarcasm)

Ultimately, i think this could be weighing heavily on Hart's and the booster's minds as they make a decision.
