Von Pearson vs Cam Sutton

Can we just stop comparing him to patterson? He's a great player, but the NCAA will not see another CP for fifteen years, if ever.

Sammy Watkins played last yr. He's a CP type receiver. The NCAA will see plenty of CP's throughout the next 15 yrs. we as vol fans may not see another CP in Orange in the next 15 yrs though.

With all due respect to Sammy Watkins, he's not on the level of Patterson........talent or physical attributes.

Respectfully disagree. They're both incredibly dynamic players. Pretty sure most would agree Watkins is the more polished receiver at this point in their careers. Here are their combine comparisons:

CP. Watkins
Ht. 6'2. 6'1
Wt. 216. 211
40 time. 4.42. 4.43
Vert. 37". 34"

Not saying anything other than Watkins is very much on CP's level IMO.

Pearson is right there with them.

Sometimes as a corner, you just get beat. Nothing wrong with it. CB is the toughest position to play.

Just numbers cannot reflect natural moves on the field that cannot be taught or copied by others.

Pretty sure that was Riley. Recall reading about a back shoulder throw he made to Von that Von took to the house. Think that was it.

Different play. The one u speak of Von won a jump ball over Cam on a quick fade for a TD

He should be nicknamed "Ginsu" because he is going to be carving up DB ankles like they were hot butter!

Watkins is a stud and a great player, but he's not on CP's level physically. The only thing holding CP back is his skill level at WR and his knowledge of the game. The guy is seriously just a freak. He's as good an athlete as we've ever had in orange. A guy that big, that tall, and that flat out fast, who can change direction like that. It's just nasty. That's why he's making NFL defenders look every bit as silly as the ones he played against in college.

Their "numbers" tend to quantify their athletic ability. CP is a freak athletically, he has great instincts and great quickness and elusiveness ..... so does Watkins.... perhaps not as special as CP, but he's definitely on "his level" IMO.

No, different play, on Day 1. I read about Riley throwing Von a back shoulder throw which he "took to the house". It wasn't the 1 on 1s on the 2nd day. The goal line back shoulder throw Von caught on Day 2 vs Cam was from Worley.

Here's a reference to it from a poster on here in the Day 1 thread....

Apparently Von Pearson dusted Cam Sutton and housed a touchdown today on a nice throw by Ferg. Good to hear we've got some playmakers back on offense.

One question who is going to throw the ball to him, with a decent QB we just might surprise somebody this year.
