I hate Vanderbilt.

Yes, their fans are highly irritating. The last time I went to Titans stadium for a UT-VU game, I had to listen to constant yells of UT students having low IQs, etc. Fortunately, Vanderbilt students rarely stay through the second quarter. Also, we shut them out.

If a reason were required to hate Vanderbilt that would be a good one. It is ok to hate Vanderbilt simply because they are Vanderbilt.

I don't even consider Alabama our biggest rival right now.

I see it as:

Florida
Georgia
Alabama
South Carolina

Uh oh! While it is certainly not as significant for the SEC East title, there are many on this board who will disagree.

They can disagree. Its a very subjective thing, but I hate losing to ANY team, but it stings most against Florida, then Georgia, etc etc.

Agreed, there are certain teams that i hate to lose to more than others, but losing to teams like Vandy, Memphis, Kentucky, etc... or any other schools that we should not ever lose too seem to hurt the worst.

i can see why you would say that...the divisional set up helped that out too....and i don't know how old you are, but i would assume, maybe wrongly so, that you are in your early to mid 20's....because most TN fans over 30 or 35 still remember growing up with Bama being the Rival....and still is the big one.

i'm 33, and i remember clearly in 80's and early 90's hating Alabama more than anything. Still do. Florida is 2nd, and after that....i'd guess UGA now, but we beat them for so many years in a row in the 90's, it didn't seem like a rivalry....now, that's not the case.

But again, for divisional purposes, they are our biggest rivals, mainly because in the 90's they won the east so much and we finished 2nd so much....so having UF as the biggest rival is not wrong by any means.

Bama will always be the biggest in my book. Beating UF is big and so is UGA but they will never come close. Growing up in Knox and watching the losses to bammer was agonizing.

Off topic, but since were talking about irritating fans, Monday night at the braves game, i sat behind two LSU fans...between the rajun cajun accent and them talking to me about my UT hat, i was just about to blow up.

Yes, I would say age is probably the biggest reason I view Alabama as 3rd. I'm, as you guessed, 23. :D I still HATTTTTTTTTTTE Alabama, and I think the gap between UF/UGA and Bammer is very very small. Basically, I dislike every other SEC team that is playing Tennessee. :)

Count yourself lucky that you are too young to remember the 11 year and 4 year losing streaks to Alabama. :banghead:

I remember the very long one. Well, the last years of it.

I forgot about that one . . . That streak was only 7 years. The REALLY long one ended in '82.

The Alabama series has been incredibly streaky in the past 30 years.

yeah, my youngest brother is 22 and he is the same way...hates UF more than any other.....

but growing up, thru the end of the 11 year losing streak and mainly thru the 8 year winless streak (we can hang our hat on the tie in 93), the deep hatred of Bama is still there...losing 6 in a row to UF was baby $hit compared constantly getting our brains beat in by Bama.

But, that's the era i grew up in...for your generation, it was Spurrier and UF....unfortunately, i've had the pleasure of experiencing both.... :banghead: which is what makes this new UGA domination over us even harder to take..... :banghead: :banghead:
