If it turns out to be a bad hire in a few years can we return the new coach and get our money back?

Their are many who will not be able to Celebrate Christmas due to financial difficulties. Yet, we are comparing getting a football coach to opening a Christmas gift? Some of you really need to come back to reality.

In all seriousness some of us really, really love our Volunteer football, and it puts a smile on our face to hear good news about the program.:hi:

I said in a previous post that if it was jimbo or golden i wouldn't spend another dime on tennessee football but i could live with strong.

OK VN, need a bit of help here--help a girl out. Since "it would appear fairly certain (according to his agent and others)" that high profile Gruden isn't and never was a serious candidate, please help me get an idea on these other three guys whose names I keep seeing being named on posts--Strong, Peterson, Patterson. In you all's opinion, which of these guys would be a better fit for TN? I see many of you have a lot of pros and cons on Strong, but I'm not seeing a lot on Patterson and Peterson. Did try to read up on them but I'm still not sure which would be the best fit. I just want us to have a get-in-there-and-rip-top-recruits-then-build-this-program-back type of guy. I'm also concerned about timing now as we move into bowl season. Coaches will go after these young guys and the pickings could be slim if we're not in there as well. Thanks for your feedback? :zeitung_lesen:

I will support any of the coaches being mentioned for at least three years. However, I hope whom ever we hire will be here for at least 10 years. Our program needs some stability now.

Since Strong is running down the Louisville fans and facilities I assume he is going somewhere. Gundy is also in the picture. I guess right now it looks like we might get one of those two.

I just read where Charlie Strong was critical of the Louisville fans for not supporting the team so it sounds like he is on the way out. Whether it's Tennessee or not is another question. I would like to see Art Briles get the job but I don't know if he is interested.

This search should have been done last year. Ever move TN makes is countered by Arkansas and Auburn.

I could really get behind Strong. He is young, has a fire to him and is a tireless recruiter. If he brings part of his staff and could retain CJG that would be an impressive staff on the road. A staff like that could repair the damage caused by the last two coaching staffs and hopefully offer some new pipelines of talent. There are a lot of good coaches but Saban can't win without the horses. We need to stockppile talent on both sides of the ball and wins will follow.

I dont care how long this thing drags out as long as they hire a proven winner.

That's exactly how I feel.. But in the back of my mind I know my parents suck at picking out presents.

Sorry if it is Strong it will take years to overcome His tenure.

Strongs a good coach. he's proven on buiding Defenses, rebuilding a program and has a winning record. He would be an automatic recruit magnet. He by far is the best and most qualified for HC. Don't know why so many are opposed to his hire. His tenure at UT would show good improvement his first year and with all the resources at UT his 2nd and 3rd year we would be Very competitive.
