Walker Merrill in portal

If they mix him as a RB who can go slot? Matchup nightmare!
My understanding from uncle @Plove23 is that he prefers to WR but is willing to play either or both. Seems like a guy we can keep on the field in hurry up situations and line up in the backfield or split out wide depending on defensive personnel. Definitely a nightmare :)

True…if you’re not in the top 4 you see the writing on the wall. Hyatt, Bru, Tillman* (hurt most of year) , Keyton, Squirrel. Plus add another class of WR/Ath coming in and it gets crowded

Just more space on the roster for defensive talent hopefully

That sucks. Merrill and Milton have always seemed to have good chemistry.

One of the few things that you can be critical of Heupel about on O is that he doesn't give other guys PT at WR. He goes with 3 or 4 unless someone gets injured.

It's important to remember he could always jump out of the portal if he doesn't find the right fit. Nothing wrong with seeing what's out there.
The school doesn't have to take you back if you withdraw your name, you run the risk of being without a home or going down a level just to play.
These kids need to be careful and think long and hard before entering probably even more so now that you'll have big name guys also jumping in with you.

I thought so as well, but I mentioned in another post I see a chemistry developing quickly with Milton and Squirrel. I've been a big Merrill fan too.

I liked what little I saw out of Merrill.

Best of luck to him wherever he lands.

Little doubt Heupel and company will draw in plenty of talent at WR moving forward.

Think this will be the nature of the portal moving forward. Best not to get too attached to the second and third team guys.

He will be a real good possession Receiver, hate to see him go. Behind Bru but you never know he may have seen a few of the EEs and as an athlete you can sense.

Had a feeling this one was coming. Right on the cusp of breaking the rotation and then Squirrel goes off. Probably saw the writing on the wall with the inbound guys.
