I just don't understand the cuonzo supporters, I mean the proof is right there in front of you. This team is vastly underachieving, we have so much talent but nothing to show for it. You talk about his recruiting, but what have they done? Stokes has a good game every now and then, jordan is really the only stud we got in my opinion. The talent isn't getting coached up, coaching mistakes in every game, no fire from the coach at all.. would I like to pearl back? Hell yeah.. has he made his mistakes?yeah.. but he won, and won a lot. . Now I know he isn't coming back, but dang, it would be nice to have a proven coach for once instead of this division 3 coach we have now..

Same here. Nothing against CCM but the dude is coaching like he's leading a Russian textile factory. "You give me more, I give you soup". That is exactly the emotion that Martin is giving this team. These kids deserve better. I'm not saying it's Pearl, but yes, he could do a lot better with this team than CCM.

No doubt, CCM is underachieving. Re-hiring a coach coming off a three season NCAA suspension is not the answer, unless of course you want the NCAA camped out in Knoxville waiting for the tiniest screw up to pounce on. Wouldn't that be fun? Find a way to win a bunch of games only to have the NCAA come in and strip us of them. Sounds like a blast.

New blood. That's the way to go. Martin is failing. Pearl is toxic. Time to look at new solutions. If Hart is any kind of AD, he should be able to sell this program to a coach. If he can't, then his ass needs to go the way of Hammy.

OP is 100% correct and the people blasting are living in some sort of fantasy land. Fact is we won't hire anyone that would be better for this job than Pearl. There's nothing about this job now that puts this job above say LSU or Alabama. When pearl was let go we would have been above those and the best we could get was martin. So we dang sure ain't getting anybody better now.

People are freakin' delusional. Pearl is damaged goods. How the hell is he supposed to overcome the neg recruiting he'd be bound to face. It's not like he can say his suspension from basketball didn't happen, and most parents are already looking for a reason to not trust a coach. Damage has been done. He's not the same coach. Let it go.

If you're so bound and determined to talk replacing CCM, start talking who's out there that could come here and realistically do a good job. Pearl is not realistic. He'd fall flat on his face.

Kids want to win games and go to the tournament. Many will welcome the chance to play for Bruce, just wait and see. Martin is losing all credibility as a coach and I don't even look for Hubbs to don the orange uniform again.

Of course OP is correct! Bruce is the only basketball coach that can win!!!! That's why he has so many National Championships!!How many does he have again?

Bruce was great for this program, right up to point he got the Vols in the NCAA doghouse and lied to everyone including his Boss !! Let it go, if CCM can't get it done there are plenty of good coaches out there. People act like he never lost a game here, checkout his last season!!! Another thing, we don't have the gun toting, dope selling and using thugs that marked Bruce's tenure! That probably means little to some of these Bring Back Bruce crybabies!!! GOVOLS!

He has one national championship. How many does this loser coach we have now have. If a good coach is so easy to find then why did we have to wait 100 years to finally get one that could take us to the tourney every year, win tournaments, and advance in post season?

Petrino wasn't fired by Louisville. He left on his own to take the Ark. Job . Pearl wasn't fired because of poor performance ( not winning). Mike Slive basically forced UT to fire Pearl. I would love to have Pearl back but don't think it can/ will happen as long as Cheek is Chancellor. Need to get rid of Cheek first and foremost.

Damaged goods for having a freaking BBQ? Negative recruiting, for what? Seriously people, what Pearl did is minimal to what goes on every day in college BB recruiting. And what about Rick Petino having sexual relations outside of his marriage, in a restaurant no less a few years ago? That didn't stop parents from letting their kids play for him. Who told a worse lie, CBP or Petino?

I think - Coach Pearl would be a great hire. - it will not happen. - the same administration is still there. The one that screwed up the photo evidence with Aaron Craft and subsequent derailment of our basketball team, we were just getting started, Pearl has a nose for talent, he was recruiting against the best, to a school that had sucked in basketball since Ray Mears. In a way that excited the fan base and filled the arena and made the tourney every year. He was on the verge of some major success. NO don't rehire that man - no one deserves a second chance - every one is perfect - no recruit in there right mind would come here - so lets go get some left minded recruits. Go Vols

I enjoy cuonzo being here. Those anxious times at the end of Feb/first of March waiting to find out what seed we would be were just simply nerve racking. Its so much nicer only worrying about how many home games we get in the NIT.

I'm so glad there are sane people here. Bruce was building something special and I believe we would have a title if he had not been fired. He resurected our program and everyone could feel the energy he brought every game. If he's even willing we should give him a chance. People still stood by Dooley until he was fired because they refuses to believe we could be that bad. Cuonzo is taking us nowhere and we have some decent talent. Bruce can bring us back

Matt Jones at Kentucky Sports Radio said Bruce will be in the SEC next year at UGA or Alabama. This also goes along with Ainge, who said Georgia is very interested in Bruce. Take it FWIW.

I don't think Bruce is the only coach out there that can get us back to the NCAA tournament. He would be as close to a sure thing as we could get. I would love to him back.

I'm in the group who believes Cheek would never allow Bruce back, and I'm not certain Bruce would want to work under Cheek's watch again.

That said, I'm also in the group who wants no part of having to compete against Bruce in the SEC.
