I didn't say eliminate the DoD. Just have enough to protect our borders and keep it to a bare minimum. We don't need to have forces scattered all over creation. Let those other regional powers handle security in their areas.


So the founding fathers idea of foreign policy is outdated? Can we say the same thing about the Second Amendment? Did they have ARs and AKs in 1792? If you are going to dismiss their foreign policy based on changing times, then that opens up a can of worms.

Let me backtrack a bit and correct myself. The way they had a disdain for the Brits having a standing army over here, we should have an equal disdain for our armies being scattered all over the globe in these other locations. And really, with the militarization of our police, we are not too far away from having politicians justify having a pseudo-standing army on the streets of America and to hell with posse comitatus.

Isolationists amuse me. You enjoy the 'American Way of Life', yet somehow never connect that wealth and comfort with the fact that we are a global power, able to direct and determine terms of trade and exchange, with a currency used by the world as a baseline. This is made possible by a robust projection of force and influence. If we draw back to fortress America, you had better be ready for the significant decrease in standard of living, etc, that this will entail.

Excellent. As one of the three major powers, we're always in a controversial mode; but without our ability to check the other two, the world (including us) would be a much poorer and less secure place. There is always a price to pay for freedom.

The founding fathers never said the word muskets when referring to the 2nd amendment. They probably never imagined there would be close to 1 million abortions a year either when they wrote the constitution.

Since the alternative is trusting anything that comes out of russian media......yeah, I'll go with the Ukrainian numbers for now. Are they inflated? Likely, heck even we inflate kill counts in conflicts. But many, many russian tanks have been destroyed, which makes the world a better place.

Your post here is both true about America's dominance since WWII and the reason why we carry this arrogance and hubris that doesn't allow us to play well with others when it is clear that we no longer have that leverage anymore because we wasted our blessing. As I have heard someone else say, the end of the USD is not either good or bad, but necessary. Not only is it being weaponized against foreigners, but is in a position to be weaponized against us. The people running this system and that have all of these evil global ambitions need to be stopped by any means necessary.
