War in Ukraine

You are a clown. I'm one of the few in here trying to bring us back to the principles of the founding documents. No entangling alliances, staying out of European affairs outside of trade and commerce, no standing armies, disdain for empires... you know, freedom stuff.

You do understand that the failure to have a sufficient force in this world invites invasion and subrogation, right? If there was no DoD we would be sitting ducks, correct? And the world would be a darker place, right?

The founding fathers wrote their missives based on the time in which they lived. The Constitution is not a suicide pact.

No standing army is just an idiotic idea in this world.

Ladies and Gentlemen: we have breaking developments in Europe. The UK is in the process of BOOTING Boris Johnson. Most of his close cabinet is in the process of resigning, and have signed letters telling him "to go" as they put it. Boris could resign as early as this evening. It's becoming very difficult for him to hold his position. Now...

I don't know how this works over there. Who takes over, what have you... but BJ was a MAJOR contributor to Ukraine.

The twitter bots are heavy rn.

"
Ukraine accused Russia of spreading false information after Moscow claimed it had destroyed two US-supplied High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems.
“Russian propagandists are actively spreading false information about the alleged destruction of the American HIMARS artillery system,” Ukraine’s Joint Forces Task Force said in a statement Wednesday. “We emphasize that this message does not correspond to reality and is nothing but a fake.”
Earlier Wednesday, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed it has destroyed the HIMARS Multiple Launch Rocket Systems during an air strike in the Donetsk region. "

You mean like on our southern border?

And with regards to subrogation, who in this hemisphere is our military peer? What country outside of our hemisphere is going to put boots on the ground here?

If there was no DoD we would be sitting ducks, correct? And the world would be a darker place, right?
I didn't say eliminate the DoD. Just have enough to protect our borders and keep it to a bare minimum. We don't need to have forces scattered all over creation. Let those other regional powers handle security in their areas.

The founding fathers wrote their missives based on the time in which they lived.
So the founding fathers idea of foreign policy is outdated? Can we say the same thing about the Second Amendment? Did they have ARs and AKs in 1792? If you are going to dismiss their foreign policy based on changing times, then that opens up a can of worms.

The Constitution is not a suicide pact.
I agree it is not a suicide pact. I just wish we would follow it every now and then.

No standing army is just an idiotic idea in this world.
Let me backtrack a bit and correct myself. The way they had a disdain for the Brits having a standing army over here, we should have an equal disdain for our armies being scattered all over the globe in these other locations. And really, with the militarization of our police, we are not too far away from having politicians justify having a pseudo-standing army on the streets of America and to hell with posse comitatus.

Ukrainian air defense is improving significantly.

They are testing all these targeting systems we never got a chance to test for ourselves and they are surpassing expectations. My personal belief is you should take that line you got, and beef it. Hold it with modern anti air systems. Continue to take out long range depot targets before making an offensive. That seems to be what they are doing, and I heard there were offensive battles today in some areas. Ukraine says they are fighting back.

Do you think most of our presidents and their appointees could qualify for a real security clearance? Congress? Too much dirty laundry in politics that would red flag them. Yet, virtually any member of the military has to be vetted when the commander in chief gets a bye ... because people elected him. It's been known for decades that biden can't keep his damn mouth closed when it comes to classified information, but he was still able to be VP and president.

If we are being honest it was the fish and chip shortage that put UK over the edge.

I don't want to start a new thread for this, but it's getting interesting. Booting BJ would mean A LOT of change and upheaval for the UK and partners.

On one hand, I'm fascinated to see how a more mature country handles this. They are dealing with their own frumpy, and everyone knew it from the jump. On the other hand, this has far reaching implications. It seems the UK might have a different version of "far reaching". They have been here for thousands of years, in one form or another.
