War in Ukraine

Ahhhhh....

Here's an image of the Crimean air base purportedly taken within the past day.

I count 19 jets out in the open.

What kind of planes?
Handful of 50+ year old Sukhoi-24's it looks like (swept back wing), about 25 million a pop. Also looks like a handful of Sukhoi-27's, 30 mil a pop. Sprinkle in some cargo planes and this could be a near 1 billion dollar loss.

But I'm sure its all part of the plan.

On the other hand, since the Russians still don't control the skies, this isn't exactly a game changer.

Huge explosions create mushroom cloud above Putin-annexed Crimea 'after Ukrainian attack': One dead and five injured as smoke billows up from Russian military airbase 130 miles from frontline after 'multiple' blasts

  • Eyewitnesses reported as many as 15 distinct explosions in Novofedorivka, Crimea, followed by a larger blast
Deadly explosions have rocked a military airbase in Russian-held Crimea this afternoon as an ominous mushroom cloud sent bathers fleeing from nearby beaches.

As many as 15 distinct explosions were reported by eyewitnesses, according to various sources, over the course of a minute around 3:30pm local time this afternoon.

Yet another blast was triggered around 30 minutes later, causing large plumes of thick black smoke to snake from the direction of the base in Novofedorivka, Western Crimea, which is located around 130 miles from the nearest Ukraine-controlled territory.

Russia's Defense Ministry denied the Saki base on the Black Sea had been shelled and said instead that munitions had blown up there. But Ukrainian social networks were abuzz with speculation that it was hit by Ukrainian-fired long-range missiles.

If the airbase was in fact struck by the Ukrainians, it would mark the first known major attack on a Russian military site in Crimea since Putin's forces invaded Ukraine on February 24
