War in Ukraine

Does anyone have the latest (reliable) data on the gas situation in western Europe?

For weeks I was hearing about how dire the energy crunch is going to be this winter. Germany going into a recession, etc.

I'm listening to an interview today and a financial trader guy is saying they're on target to meet their energy needs?

I’ve read that Germany is considering canceling planned shutdowns of several Nuclear plants to shore up energy needs. They seem to be using coal as a fall back plan.

If your comparison is correct we should pay all this off every 30yrs or so right?

This is complete nonsense. If I ran my household like the fed govt I'd be bankrupt and in jail.
No, you'd be rich...... Printing money like a boss.

So what happened to all the hand wringing that after Ukraine, Russia would move on to capture many other European countries? As recent as 2 days ago someone here was suggesting that would happen.

This guy's Frontline reporting hard been pretty solid

Likely he's referring to the transferal of multiple BTGs from Donbas to Kherson. Odds are Ukraine is waiting to cut off all bridges / ferries to the North side rendering any troops there as "trapped" without reinforcements or supplies. I mean... are the Russians really dumb enough to fall into this?

Alternatively, Ukraine drives a wedge straight to the Sea of Azov and bisects the Russian occupied territory in two. Then blasts Crimean bridge. All Russian troops in the west of the country (~50 BTGs) then effectively "trapped".

A few months ago in a speech Putin said basically that all territory that was ever part of Russia still is while comparing himself to Peter the Great. I believe it was and maybe still his objective to reconstitute the old Soviet Union. A lot has happened since then. The biggest thing is that Russia's military has been exposed as a paper tiger. It appears that if you take nuclear weapons out of the equation Russia would in no way be a threat to the West.

Edit: I believed in February that Russia would make quick work of Ukraine and all bets would be off as to what Putin's next move might be.

Just commenting that the "domino theory" was amplified and used to justify our significant involvement when reality shows that threat was highly unlikely. Even had Russia taken Ukraine the mere act of trying to hold it would have prevented the westward march of conquest but the propaganda was strong.
