War in Ukraine

@Rasputin_Vol come back to us and explain how this is sustainable and all according to Lord Putin’s master plan! Or perhaps your lackey @volgr could field it in your absence!

The ruble is at 110 and with 20% of the high of 133 since the start of the war. And the trajectory clearly shows this isn’t a short term issue

Russia Rejects Trump transition team’s floated ideas to end the war in Ukraine

Russia’s foreign minister Monday rejected the peace proposal being floated around by President-elect Donald Trump’s team to end the war in Ukraine.

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Moscow was appalled over reports that Trump and his aides were considering pushing a peace deal that would keep the door open for Ukraine to join NATO.

“Judging from numerous leaks and Donald Trump’s interview with Time magazine on December 12, their idea is to suspend hostilities along the line of contact and transfer responsibility for confrontation with Russia to the Europeans,” Lavrov said at a news conference.

“We are not happy, of course, with the proposals made by members of the Trump team to postpone Ukraine’s admission to NATO for 20 years and to station British and European peacekeeping forces in Ukraine.”

But the president-elect vowed that he would not abandon Ukraine, with reports emerging since his election victory that he was considering pushing for European troops in Ukraine while delaying Kyiv’s membership into NATO.

Retired Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg, who Trump has tapped as his special envoy to Ukraine, has suggested cutting off aid to Kyiv and threatening Russia with surging weapons to try and get both sides to negotiate a peace deal.

That day 1 peace promise might not come to fruition.

Can't believe Putin isn't taking the deal when Trump is talking about wanting to cut off Ukraine and re-working NATO obligations

Yup. It was an impossible promise from a buffoon on the campaign trail.

Yes and no. It can virtually end by the U.S. just withdrawing support, imo. U.S. can be done with the war it created by simply withdrawing. As far as an off-ramp to where things are just fine, I've mentioned for quite some time maybe 1-2 years that there isn't an easy one. Your country setup a dozy here. End it, yes. Give each side what they want, no.

I mentioned the stuff floated by Gabbard wasn't realistic a few weeks ago, and why. There simply is no easy off-ramp. If the Ukrainians agreed to a full unconditional surrender, I would accept the terms... and tell them to all start walking to Poland. 🤷‍♂️ We'll see how this turns out. Not sure what there is to negotiate? (this was hinted by Trump a few weeks ago)

It would seem like for this to end medium and long-term one country has destroy the other country or similar.

It was an impossible promise from a buffoon on the campaign trail.

At least he didn't campaign on curing cancer.

There isn't much the U.S. can do in this situation other than make it worse. The question to me is not what happens to the Ukraine, its what happens to Europe. If you want to call someone buffoons I would think that would be the Europeans.

The Art of Deal on this one.... GTFO... in turn Ukraine will be gone and Europe might not make it, but that is kind of the point (or was the point) imo.

Let me give you the history... In 2014, there was a coup in Kiev and an Anti- Russian Pro-Western government was installed. The republics in Eastern Ukraine rejected the new government, which resulted in a civil war. Russia tried to settle things with diplomacy, but the West wanted this war. That's why they keep escalating and are now supplying missiles to launch them inside Russia.

The Russian government had legitimate concerns about the expansion of NATO for years because their country has been invaded by European powers countless times. The US and other NATO powers didn't respect Russia's security concerns at all and just kept expanding to the Russian border.

I mean we have NGOs writing white papers admitting that our main foreign policy goal is to eliminate or weaken any country that could be a rival to protect our economic hegemony. This stuff is out there hidden in plain sight for those who don't fall for propaganda. That's what they are trying to do in Ukraine now. The US and NATO provoked and are waging a proxy war in an attempt to destroy Russia. It's not working out for the the West though, is it?
someone only has the Russian bot version of history.
Yanukovych ran a pro-western government.
"Yanukovych has also promised to move ahead to meet EU requirements for signing a so-called Association Agreement, including a free-trade package that would help exporters gain more market share in the 27-nation bloc."

they didn't reject his removal in 2014, they celebrated it. there were other anti-Yanukovych protests going on in Ukraine beyond Maidan. Maidan is just in the capital and the biggest so it got all of the attention. Eastern Ukraine also participated.

Russia sent in its spec ops to create the division in eastern Ukraine, directly arming them, after they rescued Yanukovych.

the "diplomacy" Russia used wasn't any real form of diplomacy. they came in and made demands. the rebels weren't present to even speak for themselves. and all Russia did is make demands. they didn't offer up any thing, or make any deals.

and no their fears of NATO expansion aren't legitimate. first there was no expansion into Ukraine. it had been rejected, and prior to the 2022 full invasion there were no additional offers of "expansion" to trigger Russia. also Russia being afraid of NATO is laughable. Russia has enjoyed its longest era of peace with the west under NATO.

what? An entity wrote papers about how their main goal is to make sure that rival entities don't weaken them? How scandalous.

btw the exact same argument could be said about Russia. they have written similar papers, talked about invading or taking over Ukraine and or parts for years before this. so your outrage is one sided.

For those who think of this war as something far away. This is as raw and personal as it gets. Its basically the scene in Saving Private Ryan in real life.

No matter what the "right side" war is truly hell on people fighting it and those who love them. The sooner the Ukraine Russia war ends, the better for everyone like the guys (both of them) seen in this video.

For most people here, I genuinely advise not to watch it. Its not the kind of thing you can unsee.

Unfortunately the one person capable of ending the war, has stated on numerous that he has no desire to do so.

Not as long as Ukraine having Nato membership is part of the deal. Not today or ever in Putin's mind. On that, I cant really blame him.

But this is just the opening salvo of the deal, as in many negotiations. In the end, Russia will get the Donbas, Ukraine will be a neutral zone but will keep its armaments but cannot have arms from other countries and will not now or ever join Nato. That will pretty much be the deal. Oh, and probably Putin will get Ukraine to formally recognize annexation of Crimea.

This is the deal that WILL happen, the only question is how many Russians, Ukrainians and others will die before that deal gets made.

The prospect of keeping Ukraine out of NATO ended back in in 2014 when a neutral Ukraine was invaded by Russia.

There is no scenario that exists where Ukraine isn't a member of NATO at the end of this, as Ukraine has stated that NATO membership is the only way to secure their state going forward given that Russia has violated every treaty it has signed with Ukraine.

The alternative is Ukraine developing their own nuclear weapons to defend themselves.

And that is why there will be no peace as long as people who think as you do run State.

Look, I am happy to screw over the bear whenever it benefits us but reality is our neocons went looking for another place to meddle. We did the typical CIA coup to get someone else into power who would be our lackey. Meanwhile, they began to settle scores with ethnic Russians in the "red" side of the state. Naturally, Ivan didnt care for that.

Before all this, Ukraine was listed as one of the most corrupt states on earth and "the big guy" made his share. Now it is a money pit for our chicken hawks and their war machine, nothing more.

Again, we (the good ol US of A) has no benefit for continued fighting - indeed, it has caused a serious national security issue because now drone warfare has exposed our enormous vulnerability in that front against our expensive weapons. Houthis are doing same in Yemen against our navy.

Putin will never ever accept Nato on his doorstep any more than we would accept him putting weapons in Havana or Mexio. Not going to happen. That gives them no reaction time against strategic strikes so for them, it is existential worth dying for. For Americans? it is a money suck for absolutely no reason at all. We gain nothing, and I mean NOTHING. Only people who gain are the arms merchants.

If you want someone to blame why Ukraine had to take it up the ass these last 2 years go talk to Victoria Nuland and her master Soros.

Lock Ukraine down, make it a buffer zone with its own defense system but with NO major power arms there and they will be fine - today. And that is all you can do for anyone. For tomorrow is not promised by any leader or treaty.
