War in Ukraine

After checking in off and on when I had breaks today to try to catch up with thread (like over 100 pages of new posts in two days, well done political forum), all I know for sure is you don't have to check the timestamps to see what time the posts were made. The hotter the take, the later at night it happened. Everybody drinking up that Russian vodka before they get shamed for still having it.
It has been fun to track your progress through the thread via "like" notifications.

Thanks for highlighting this. I admit I've fallen for quite a few of those.

It's crazy the amount of misinformation being propagated by both sides during this conflict.
The fact is this...Russia has savagely invaded their smaller poor neighbor because they don't want to be under the Russian thumb anymore.

And the smaller poor people are fighting and giving their lives..

That is not misinformatiom, and the f'n pukes in here bringing that up to justify the pain and suffering Russia is meting out on The Ukraine make me want to freaking vomit.

You guys suck Russian donkey a$$..🤬

The only thing I know for certain is America has no place being involved in another European war. We should use the advice of the founders as a guide.

“Peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations...entangling alliances with none.” Thomas Jefferson

It's going to get nasty in Ukraine in the net 24-72 hours imo. The first wave on conscripts and brand-new soldiers didn't make Ukraine surrender. Now comes the main force and the non-stop shelling. Many will die. Ukraine has already won the propaganda war, but they have also lost the real war. Unless images leak out of the devastation and those are bad enough to get the world or NATO to say enough is enough and act, this won't last another week. Then these large cities will be surrounded and force to surrender or they will be starved out.

The time to stop this was weeks/months ago. We knew exactly what the Russians were doing and even publicized it. Unless we want to go to war, the Russians will devastate Ukraine. I have no doubt that we could obliterate the Russian troops if we tried. Is defeating the Russians on the battlefield to protect a developing democracy in Europe and hoping that in the aftermath Russia is too weakened to recover or turns to the west after the replacement of Putin, worth the remote risk of a nuclear exchange? Tough call.

No, it's not a tough call at all.

I agree it's not worth nukes. The concern I have is Putin appears to think he can just threaten them and we will back down. Line has to be drawn somewhere.

The line is drawn with our treaty allies. It's bright red. He knows where it is, and we know where it is. The last thing we need to do is let the hawks' brinkmanship lead us into a nuclear holocaust.

Yes, it is. Watch potentially 100K+ people killed in each of the large cities because we are afraid to act or act and not worry about that less than 5% chance Putin will try to launch something.
Not sure where you came up with just a 5% chance, but even if it was that low, that's a 5% chance of ending life on Earth as we know it. I would love to see Russia get its ass kicked, but I can certainly understand why no one else wants to jump in to save the Ukrainians and risk nuclear Armageddon. Just how crazy Putin is no one really knows.
