A harrowing video has shown the moment a family is cut down by tank fire on a country lane as a son desperately begs his father to 'don't die dad' - as Putin blames civilian casualties on 'gangster' Ukrainian using 'human shields'.

The Russian President denied that his troops are deliberately targeting civilians, amid vast evidence to the contrary, as he insisted his invasion is going exactly to plan and schedule on Thursday.

Putin hailed his soldiers as heroes who are fighting to save innocent lives and blamed Ukrainian 'neo-Nazis' for holding citizens hostage.

However, a video has now emerged of a father and son - and their two dogs - being mowed down by tank fire as they drove along a seemingly empty country lane.

Distressing footage, believed to have been taken on Wednesday, shows the two men, sat in the front of a car, pull over to the side of the road before a storm of bullets are fired at their vehicle.

The father is left lying in the middle of the road in a pool of his blood as his son watches on helplessly, repeatedly urging him to 'hang in there' and to 'stay down' in fear of further gunfire.

He can also be heard calling out to his son that his foot has been 'torn off', before his body is eventually found in a roadside ditch.

Their car can be seen covered in bullet holes and the windows smashed, while the father's final moments are captured.

One of the dogs survives the incident and lies with his motionless owner.

Since we invaded Iraq the second time about half the Christian population or more left the country. The majority of Mandeans left as well. Under Saddam they lived in peace and were protected. Many Yazidis left as well.
