War in Ukraine

Not Wes Welker. Wesley Walker (former Jets WR from the 70s and 80s).

And you've not done the same thing you're accusing me of when someone has disagreed with you? You were one of the first to tell me I needed to call out both sides. I've called out many sides which have contributed to this conflict. Still not good enough for most. I'm expected to follow the crowd. Guess that's the real reason I'm not well liked by some in here. Oh well. I've never been a crowd follower and not going to start anytime soon.
Yeah, Im definitely going to avoid your nfl question about somebody who retired when i was a child.
You havent asked me to call it out, but FYI I opposed the US invading Iraq 20 years ago, which seems to be the standard Ukraine "both sides" argument, just like I opposed Russia invading Ukraine today.

lol..........You're one of those gas is going to be $7 a gallon guys I guess.

No, I never freaked out about gas.

But I am one of those that realize the pain from inflation is real for many people. And it will not get better for those people during his term. But hey, you don’t have to deal with Trump.

It shouldn't even be 3.99. But 2 bedroom apartments in Knoxville shouldn't be over $1000 a month either.
It seems big petroleum companies are making record profits. I guess Knoxville apartment building owners are doing well also.

There is much in this that I agree with. I also agree with the idea that it probably isnt a real concern for the USA and Mexico (though the potential of China arming the drug lords to be a drain on us is not so far fetched IMO). Operators of various sorts running around in Ukraine making it even more resistant to Russia is a real and valid concern if I am Russia.

The reality is that Russia wants Ukraine to stay relatively poor, dependent and quasi neutral so that it can control it while Russia grows its influence. NATO wants Ukraine to adopt EU mindset and government practices and softly turn it into an EU ally (so it can basically control it). It has long been pondering how to make a NATO partner but has feared aggravating Russia. The reason they want a partner is to put "defensive" strike capabilities much closer to Russia's border and ostensibly to expand the EU's power, territory and governance. Since this has been the case, the EU and the USA have paid off the leaders of their growing puppet there and are now running the public relations campaign.

What do the Ukrainian people want? sadly, nobody but themselves really give 2Fs what they want. Everyone supposedly "helping" them or threatening them see them as the prize of this struggle, largely between the EU expansion and Russia expansion.

Its like the smart kid who talks all fancy to the girl and the bully is flustered, so, sensing he is losing her, decides to resort to physical means to "win" her AKA caveman/abuser style. In this case, the smartypants also is good friends with the captain of the football team, who is a 3rd-degree black belt. We may not condone that behavior as legitimate but understand that they are both going for the same girl.

I just hope everyone can find a way through this that does the least harm to the Ukrainian people. A nice bonus is making Ivan a bit weaker (but dont want him too weak or China will fill that gap).

Yeah, I can see China bypassing and engaging corrupt MX officials to arm cartels and such but saw myself doing a boring essay and bailed.

Agree that Ukraine would definitely want a better, militarily enforced border but they'll never be allowed nukes. Even the Javelins carried the condition of storing them hours away from the eastern front and preclude use in the Donbas.

I'm acquainted with a group of Ukrainian and Russian Jews, through an older couple who are very good friends. He literally left Russia the hard way, on foot bypassing checkpoints and catching various means of transport. Toss in a hot-headed Iranian friend of his, and boy, we've had some....warm discussions. Except for the night Babat got so mad he left abruptly and left his wife there, we usually finished with a handshake.

I think you're level-headed and observant; those are just my opinions and for all I know Putin is a fevered madman and hits the button tomorrow. Ooops - sorry! - nice knowing you guys and gals!

And underselling now?
Maybe they are just a tad more speculative.

or your observational skills are questionable - not seeing any indication that 4.49 was the prevailing price last week and 3.89 is this week.

maybe it's the case but nowhere else is seeing a 60 cent drop and I can find no indicators that it was at the high point one week ago.

only you know for sure if your reporting is accurate but it conflicts with available data

Don't panic over food supply, says Russian government

The Russian government insists there is no need to panic over the availability of basic foods.

"We are fully covering our needs in sugar and buckwheat," said deputy PM Viktoria Abramchenko.

"There is no need to panic, no need to stockpile those goods. There's enough for everyone," she said at a government meeting, reported by Interfax news agency.

She did say however that Russia would increase the area of land used to sow sugar beet and buckwheat this year.

Abramchenko also said that so far the sanctions imposed on Russia did not give grounds to expect any food shortages. She said Russia was expanding imports from "friendly countries" to guarantee stocks of dairy produce, fruit and veg, meat and animal feed. She mentioned ex-Soviet neighbours in that group as well as Turkey, India and China.

The sanctions have depressed the value of the rouble, making imported food more expensive. They have also made it harder for Russia to use international financial services.

Come on what?

I got home about an hour ago. I drove by multiple stations with 3.89 gas prices.
I don't give a sh!t what you say, it doesn't change the facts.
I filled up in another state last week and paid 2.20 less per gallon at home today (0.30 less than the current national average). Averages are averages and not what everybody pays. @volfanhill knows that.

the average isn't the issue - it's the change in same station prices that is being questioned. 60 cents down in one week seems...exaggerated

yes states have different prices

btw - even gas buddy isn't supporting the 3.89 given that Kroger and Walmart are based on membership discounts and the other below 3.90 is cash only. Now if any of those were 4.49 last week I'll offer my official retraction and apology
The Kroger down the street from me is 3.89 before discount. The other three stations at the intersection are all 3.89-3.94.
Last weekend they were all 4.39-4.49.
Like Ripley says - believe it or not, I couldn't care less.

I don't believe it. Doesn't match the data nor any business strategy to go from most expensive in the area by far to least in one week but I know you don't care.

I would hope.
Have you been having a hard time sleeping?

I would say gas going down 60 cents a gallon in a week is a pretty good thing. Lord knows, when it went up .60 cents in a week people acted as if the world was coming to an end. There has not been one thing I was looking for at the store that they have been out of.....unlike the Trump toilet paper catastrophe.

Really? Pinning that on Trump? Come on.
