War in Ukraine

Respect and appreciation for taking the time explaining that so thoroughly. I learned a lot.

Well done.

I'm glad it's useful, and urge anyone to read for themselves and disagree. If you put 10 Ukraine/Russian historians in the same room, I'm sure there'd be variance of opinion. I think Europe may be less frivolous in using the term 'Nazi':

Germany To Russia: We're 'Kinda Experts' On Nazism, And Russia Isn't Fighting It

German diplomats called out their Russian counterparts after Russia’s embassy in South Africa said the nation was “fighting Nazism” in Ukraine.
“Dear subscribers, we have received a great number of letters of solidarity from South Africans, both individuals and organizations,” Russia’s South African embassy tweeted Saturday. “We appreciate your support and glad you decided to stand with us today, when Russia, like 80 years ago, is fighting Nazism in Ukraine!”
Germany’s embassy in South Africa responded to point out that Russia, which is in its second week of invading the sovereign nation of Ukraine, is not fighting Nazism.

And Germany, where the Nazi Party was founded, would know.
“Sorry, but we can’t stay silent on this one, it’s just far too cynical,” the German Embassy said in a tweet. “What [Russia] is doing in [Ukraine] is slaughtering innocent children, women and men for its own gain. It’s definitely not ‘fighting Nazism.’ Shame on anyone who’s falling for this. (Sadly, we’re kinda experts on Nazism.)”

... Because your so open to differing points of view.
I am actually. See my longer post above. I actually do research into topics. I'm actually quite the expert on the Latter Day Saint (not the LDS church) movement and other religious movements.

Let me ask you 2 questions. It's off topic but will be fun. Who was a better WR? Wesley Walker or Andre Johnson? Mike Quick or Sterling Sharpe? If don't follow the NFL then don't worry.

I always learn a lot from Fisher...Very educated man. Knows his details so through it is like being back in School. Wonder if he is a History Professor.

That's very kind of you. Not a teacher but read a bit to sanity check observations before speaking.
I'd kill for a better grasp on brevity, though.

I'm just pointing out facts. When I first started posting on the political forum regularly it was people like you and the usual "moderate" crowd telling me I must call out both sides. However, you "moderates" actually fail miserably at seeing both sides yourselves. It's really about getting people to only see your side. I'm smart enough to see right through that BS and call it out. Which really irritates your crowd.

The reality is there is actually two sides to this issue and some of us are pointing out. I've called out Putin, Russia, Ukraine, U.S., NATO , John McCain, Victoria Nuland, etc. There has been more than one guilty party in all of this.

I agree with some of what Fisher said. A lot of this hatred stems from the Holodomor during the Soviet Union era. Keep in mind it was the Soviet Union who did that and not Russia. This led to many Ukrainians siding with Nazi Germany and led to the rise of Stepan Bandera. Bandera still has many followers today. It fits under the category of ultranationalism. I could give more of a history lesson on the subject but will pass for now. I'll just be wasting my time.

Putin has strategically taken over Crimea and is trying to block off Ukraine from the Black Sea. He has supported Transnistria's independence. As well as that of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Sadly, most people have absolutely no idea about those 3 independence movements which of course have been supported by Russia. More than likely for strategic and economic reasons.

You should stick with posts like this.
While I dont agree with your opener, the entire work is intelligible and germane to the discussion. And, you avoided tossing in your labels (which are frequently wrong anyway).

More like this, Dong ho Vol.

Don't panic over food supply, says Russian government

The Russian government insists there is no need to panic over the availability of basic foods.

"We are fully covering our needs in sugar and buckwheat," said deputy PM Viktoria Abramchenko.

"There is no need to panic, no need to stockpile those goods. There's enough for everyone," she said at a government meeting, reported by Interfax news agency.

She did say however that Russia would increase the area of land used to sow sugar beet and buckwheat this year.

Abramchenko also said that so far the sanctions imposed on Russia did not give grounds to expect any food shortages. She said Russia was expanding imports from "friendly countries" to guarantee stocks of dairy produce, fruit and veg, meat and animal feed. She mentioned ex-Soviet neighbours in that group as well as Turkey, India and China.

The sanctions have depressed the value of the rouble, making imported food more expensive. They have also made it harder for Russia to use international financial services.
Kinda looks like my WinnDixie. Thanks Joe 😡

Poland is not taking any chances

There are more than a few ways for things to slip out of control. Hopefully Putin is either shown the door or persuaded to enter a ceasefire to claim some irrelevant victory.

Can you imagine if Russia had free elections and joined western values? They'd be off the charts rich and with no fears.

None of your long winded post actually justifies or explains anything.

That’s what we said when Yeltsin took over. The corruption in that land is too deep seated and baked in for that to ever happen. They have no historical precedent on which to base such a culture

None of your ranting about whether somebody claims to be moderate or "both sides" or you think they claim to be moderate or "both sides" is relevant to anything other than the fact that you use it as a go to ad hominem when they don't agree with you.

Considering that Wes Welker, Andre Johnson, or Sterling Sharpe have nothing to do with the Ukraine, I'll decline to get donjoed.

Perhaps we can agree that the beliefs of Stepan Bandera are outdated just like the ideas of Hitler and Marx should be considered outdated?

Or maybe we can't agree because you thinking seems to be one sided on the issue.

I agree with that, but then, we are Westerners. I don't see that Ukraine or certainly Russia share our sensibilities, and there's a principle of symmetrical force. We haven't had a war on this soil in 160 years. When it's on your doorstep and in your living room, there are many fewer rules. I can't in conscience tell Ukraine to observe Western rules of warfare when Putin has them by the neck in their house.

I'm one-sided that Ukraine can defend itself in whatever manner stops the aggression.
