That was always my impression of the Keystone pipeline - that it wasn't intended for our domestic use. Just the most expedient way to get Canadian oil to a port.

I don't know what of those things might have happened, but agree entirely with the observation. The Russian Scare of 2016-2020 destroyed chances of vectoring with Russia on things that were possible - for example, terrorist warnings we received from them - and only because a corrupt woman wanted the WH more than she cared about damage to the country, and a bureaucratic state greased the wheels. We have cold war currents in the air for a DNC-hack hoax, a troll-farm=Putin hoax, collusion hoax, and two hoax impeachments, Russia and perhaps a China invasion, avoidable inflation, and an autocracy in DC. Some trade.

And during that time, GOP'ers were solidifying business ties and wealth schemes with both Russia and China. They were more focused on their pockets than the safety of the country. My point is, neither party is innocent in this whole mess. They basically only care about their bank accounts and remaining in office and hence power. That's why I don't belong to a party, I'm an independent voter who votes for what I believe is the lesser evil. If aliens invaded Earth, I'd very likely root for the aliens because we don't have sense enough to get along with each other nor take care of our planet anyway.

If Russia and the USA joined up instead of being rivals, humans would by now have removed hunger, made poverty all but extinct, and likely would have already colonized the moon and Mars. Totally skipping the geopolitical portion of your post me only focusing on the technological, we are DECADES (if not centuries) away from any possibility of interstellar travel. Baring some miraculous technical advance in propulsion or some even more miraculous astrophysical advance in overcoming relatively, the vast distance to even the nearest star (proxima centuri) would require several millennia even with the most powerful boosters in our inventory. My hypothesis is these favorable numbers are a result of Putin’s recently publicly stated intention of cracking down on traitors, where I believe the term was defined as someone who did not support Putin and his actions in Ukraine.

Your scenario is a false equivalency. A better scenario is the following: The Biden administration's actions, whether intentionally or incompetently, give me the flu. I get a really bad fever reaching 105. As it goes down to 103, I'm happy that I'm feeling better and might survive; but I'm also really pissed that they gave me the flu.
