Can't you hear the war drums beating at the defense contractors? They are trying to gin up support for another war, but they're not doing a very good job.

It'll be a while before the public gets fired up for another war. It is a real uphill battle for the neocons because the images from Iraq and Afghanistan (especially Afghanistan) are fresh.

What they'd need to shift public opinion is wait a while longer so those memories fade (they really don't want to do that) or drag the country kicking and screaming into some conflict and have it go really really well (like the first Gulf War).

People are conquered and enslaved quite often in the World today and we don't even blink an eye. We are only "concerned" in Ukraine because other nations in Europe have relied on US military protection for far too long and they are now helpless. That is their fault not ours and it is up to the people of Ukraine to fight back if they don't want to be controlled by Russia. We are more than capable of arming them if they need help

Actually the Ukraine situation is largely our fault I think. We talked them into giving up their nukes on dissolution of the Soviet Union. Put those nukes in Ukraine today and the Ukrainian flag still flys over Crimea.

The likelihood of the US being enslaved by a foreign invader are more remote than us being enslaved by our neighbors, legislators and oligarchs.

If the Ukraine still had nukes, Yanukovich would have had control of them in 2014.
