Whatever makes you "feel better"......and by the way, what is this Harry Potter, come on.....you can say it.....U Conn....Geno.....this is not a middle school grudge.....

Not about feelings padre. You know, Uconn is not our conference, right so the Bama analogy is just dumb. Plus, the LVs played the defending NC and runner up and multiple top 5 ranked teams this season. They were not running from top comp. and just playing a cupcake schedule.

Whatever the LVs problems, it was not their RPI.

Enjoy banging your Geno drum.

This attitude will keep the LV right where we are now....."also-rans".....

Scheduling UCONN would be a joke poor Holly can’t out coach the average middle school coach. She couldn’t match wits Genno drunk and high on marijuana laced with cocaine. With Holly at the helm this game would be a disaster.

I think Warlick put out some feelers a couple of years ago. Auriemma was willing to renew the series if UT met his demands. They refused.

So he did Holly and UT a favor. Beating Holly by 60 would have embarrassed her and the University more than what they already are. Holly does well to hang with the weak teams she faces.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
The new Coach should schedule UConn and announce it at the Presser introducing our new Coach.
I don't care if you lose by a 100, new coach and throw the gauntlet down.......

My whole point was that maybe UT admin will finally get the picture if we lose to UCONN by 50.
CHW was complaining that whole presser. There's no excuse for it--if you really don't deserve the criticism that comes your way, prove you don't deserve that criticism and beat the best!

If she really thinks she and her players don't deserve, "half the crap thrown at them," what better way to prove it than to go in to Storrs and prove it?
Since TN stopped playing UCONN, we haven't made the final four, while UCONN has made the final four every year in our absence.
Do it, Warlick. Prove yourself.

She should move to UConn

:dance2::dance2::dance2:Absoluutely do not schedule U Conn. Pat Summit refused to play them after Gino made the remarks about her to the mother of a player both were recruiting in Atlanta to gain an advantage. Because of that remark Gino got the player and Summit refused to play him until Gino made an admission of it. She always referred that question back to Gino to answer the reason why. Some sports writer needs to publish the whole story as to that reason...Gino would look like a "jack ass".
why dont you publish it... I need to understand the truth if there's another one

Think I'd rather throw the bank at Mickey DeMoss..

I would be shocked if DeMoss ever accepted another head coaching position, no matter HOW much money was offered.

As I recall, her stint as head coach at Kentucky taught her that she was much nore comfortable in an assistant role than she was being a head coach. The stress of the job, even though she was having success, became more than she could bear. I would guess that there is not enough money in all of Tennessee that could pull her into the head coaching job in Knoxville.

I join several others in suggesting Wes Moore for the job when the time comes.

As for Caldwell-Vargas, she's the most Pat-like coach in the Summitt line -- Pat said so herself -- but she'd have to modify her assistant coach roster from what it is now for me to think she could do it. She'd need to hire a sharp assistant who is an expert in offense. Defense, rebounding, personal responsibility and motivation? Nikki is your coach. And she is a FAR better offense coach than Holly, but I think she could use a strong and clever person beside her to bolster her offense.

It seems to me that the "need to play UCONN" refrain is really a marker for something more practical (and possible): the need to pay attention to what makes a team successful in college WBB today. What I think all of the upsets (Oregon State over Tennessee, Buffalo over Florida State, Central Michigan over Ohio State, and, less so, Duke over Georgia) demonstrate is that good shooting, a lot of assists, discipline, and good chemistry as often as not trump athleticism and recruiting rankings. To me, Tennessee--and some of the other teams in the SEC (Georgia would probably be one example)--seem to assume that latter two will win the day. That this works some of the time is obvious, but that "some" seems to keep getting smaller and smaller as the years go by. Oregon State, Buffalo, and Central Michigan don't have, to my knowledge, a high school all-American on the team, with Oregon State (the one I know best) not starting a single player who was ranked in the top 25 by Hoopgurlz. I think there is a lesson here about recruiting, not to mention coaching, and it's one Holly, or her successor, would do well to heed.

UT needs UConn much more than UConn needs UT.

They are still a national brand with good attendance that isnt dwindling. Last year UT had the second highest attendance average in the country behind South Carolina, however that is because UT has a HUGE building while UConn does not, so attendance for every game combined for UConn was 291,722 people in attendance for 37 games(average of 7,884) while UT was 222,332 in attendance for 31 games(7,172). Which means on the road the Lady Vols are not so much a national brand or name as UConn is since at home average for UT in TBA was 9,184 while UConn was 8,888. I am sure after this season it will be even more disparity per game attendance between the 2 schools. UT really needs UConn to come into TBA for a big attendance boost while UConn doesnt need that as their home only sits 9,882 and again their home attendance averages 8,888 so less than 1,000 seats available in the nosebleeds while playing a bunch of nobodies.

With all due respect. One should never under any circumstance trust UT attendance numbers. They are flat out dishonestly inflated for FB or BB.

To be fair, maybe the other government schools deceive in the same manner. So maybe the rankings are pretty close after all the lies are balanced?

Supposed Lady Vols basketball fans now posting on the Lady Vols forum that the Lady Vols NEED UConn!

Go tell the UCon fans that we NEED their basketball program right here:

UConn Women's Basketball | The Boneyard

They already know..... but don't really care. UCONN plays a strong out of conference schedule and TENN doesn't have the quality of play to fit into that schedule. Maybe TENN can catch them in the NCAA Tourney.... oh yeah, never mind.

UT should NEVER schedule UConn. I don't care if they are 0-30 with pygmies for a front line and 2 dwarfs at guard. Gino refused to schedule UT because he did not want to lose to Pat. When they got to the top, suddenly he wants a shot. Screw that snotty SOB.

That's about as fact-free as one can be.
We played them from 1995 until 2006. We won the last three games. They won 13 times in 22 games. Anyone is welcome to dislike another team, but there is no point in making up stuff.

Given the states of the two programs today, neither one would benefit from a rematch. Those who want one will have to hope we become Final Four worthy again. We have the talent, and if properly developed it could happen.
