Wasn't a good day for either coach.

If you were the LSU and UGA AD would you pull the trigger?

If either loses next week they are done. If not I think both keep their job with wins

I think LSU is still on the fence even with a win

could come down to interested parties as much as wins

If lsu fires miles and his staff it will eventually cost them 17 million and with all the job openings this year they'll probably have to over pay for the guy they want. With all that said I'd probably tell him to make some staff changes and give it another year

i agree but they seem to have an itchy trigger finger this year

Yep and that's crazy to me only because of the buyout. If I was the AD at lsu I'd get the boosters that wanted him gone to put their money where their mouth was and get them to pony up a good chunk of that buyout before I even thought about firing him

With how high Miles' buyout is, I just can't see them electing to start paying that in a year where SO many high-to-very-high coaching vacancies already exist. There are barely enough coaches to accept those jobs as it is right now.

Honestly it wouldn't. Especially Mark. Saying he would take 10-3 every year? Laughable if UGA keeps him honestly

What was the context of that? If he was saying that he'd certainly accept 10-3 as a bare minimum every year with the possibility of winning more each year, I'd accept that in a damn heartbeat. All it takes is 1 or 2 of those 3 games to go your way and suddenly you're in the playoff.

I cant see it either but I keep reading its something internal in the AD and not his actual coaching

I'd like to see this comment in it's original context.

I think we can partly blame the itchy trigger fingers on Florida's "lucky" success this season with hiring McElwain which is a combination of a crap schedule and better offensive play calls. Florida didn't have to play Arkansas, Oklahoma, or Alabama and their one loss thus far was to LSU.

Both would be fools to fire this season. Mainly due to so many other vacancies right now. Unless they had a coach already in mind they would have to overspend as mentioned previously. Which is not to say Miles and Richt haven't underachieved, because they have with the talent that they get year in and year out.

LSU may be the best job in the country for a good coach who can recruit.

Tons of in-state talent. Especially DT

If I'm USCe or Mizzou and LSU fires Les, I'm immediately on the phone with his agent with a contract ready to go.

Similar to Rick Barnes. From fired to hired in a weekend.
