The problem with this is divisions in each conference are not equal. Most conferences are heavily weighted in one division. You are giving a massive advantage to teams that play in the weaker division with worse SOS this wayTwo simple guidelines would solve all this. You can’t move up on championship weekend if you don’t play. Simple as that. Winner of the conference championship game takes the ranking spot of its opponent if they are lower ranked. Thus, Utah would now be in the 4 spot. Then reseed the top four after the championship games. This would turn the conference championship games into ultra important elimination/advancement games. Essentially the first round of the playoffs. They’d now mean something again.
Under this scenario this year 5-8 would be out no matter what happened in the conference championships, since they weren’t playing.
I agree they should drop but when we lost we dropped and became the top ranked 1 loss team. number of spots is kind of irrelevant it’s more about placing within the number of loss teamsHow though? They are going to lose to K State and not drop at all? For reference, we lost to UGA and dropped 4 spots. They will at least drop 2-3 spots imo
Yup. But I like that objective compromise better than full subjective power to a bunch of committee members. The problem with this is divisions in each conference are not equal.
