I'm really not impressed with the style of offense UC was running. I took into account that most of the coaching staff was already gone but I'm sure the Playbook was the same all season. Two things they had, a running QB that probably had as much yards as the tailback and fast tight end for their size. The quarterbacks running ability saved them on some crucial 3rd and longs. I didn't see a whole lot of power in this offense which scares me for SEC play. One other thing with this zone/read running style, our backs pitter pat, juke and jive at the line of scrimmage, we are DEAD! This is a one cut and go vertical type running attack. I hope UT has all the success in the world and I know it'll take time but after dissecting every formation and play last night I'm really concerned. I think the speed of the SEC defense is gonna really expose this style of offense. Hell.... we beat it with Dooley at the wheel and wasn't Sal coaching the defense?

So you can pay attention to a bowl game of another team but don't even know who your teams DC was?

Priceless :eek:lol:

Sorry but I'm really trying to forget those last few years of losing coaching changes players getting arrested and kicked off of the team.

Instead of paying attention to UC you should've watched some of our games and realize we are in much better shape!

Don't be a troll and ruin our mojo!!!

I understand but to me this offense doesn't do well without huge play makers touching the football about every down.

Which is why we are recruiting play makers. As with any offense, it comes down to execution. If our players execute at a high level, we will be just fine.

I think we are as far as quality of coaches. These guys are sharp from what I've seen I'm just worried about running this offense without a mobile quarterback and some stud receivers.

Agree, like I said I know it's takes time but we have a very impatient fan base and understandably so. This offense runs a lot of screens and draws along with vertical passing routes. SEC defenses close quick is all I'm saying.

Meh, I was mildly impressed by the fact that they were able to win with GAs/Managers and damn near anybody with a pulse signaling in plays and running the sideline.

Showed me their coaches had done a good enough job up to that point that they were able to continue on and win.

Football is changing. Trust me, I love a simple, power scheme more than anybody.

But there is a reason NFL teams are starting to sniff around college programs to get some ideas about dealing with the newer offenses (spread option, spread, fast paced, etc, etc).

Just because it isn't the classic offense doesn't mean it can succeed.

Kinda off topic, but duke's FG kicker is ballin out. Why the hell can't we have a kicker like that if effin' Duke does?

A lot of OP bashing in this thread.

Which is ironic considering there's not a singe one of us who isn't extremely nervous about this offense and how it will work in the SEC.
