Watching the Lady Vols game and I am very disappointed by lack of fans at the game

I’m very disappointed in the play of the lady Vols”I love the Lady Vols but they are Lazy and Slow....Belmont has Shot a ton of open 3”s tonight!!!!
We aren’t lazy and slow. Even Belmont’s best player said in the presser what a good team we are and singled out Sara Puckett. Belmont coach praised us too. And Belmont is a very good team.

The crowd was not a problem.. if more people didn’t want to come that’s their issue! The LV faithful was there and that 3 ball from Sara ‘Bucketts’ Puckett brought the house down! Nothing like a big game at TBA🍊.
Attendance per box score: 5,484. That is certainly pathetic attendance for a home NCAA Tournament game.
I had tickets for the game but couldn’t go at the last min. due to a family matter. People do the best they can.

nothing new here --- there were always far fewer fans at the home tournament games than in the regular season --- I know, I was there for the championship years
That's true. Even in the heyday the first round home games didn't sell very well. Certainly more than 5 or 6 K, but there's always been a dropoff. Back then it was bc the early round opponents were really bad and games were always blowouts. There are so many more good players and good teams now, and Belmont is certainly one of them.

I went to both games and in general, they are way less fun experiences than regular season games mostly bc of the incredible number of timeouts and stoppages. It's excruciating, it's like a baseball game with alot of pitching changes. I know the tv gods must be fed, but its a problem. Also,it's a school night, and I didn't get home until almost 10. Not young family friendly.

Part of the problem is this team, they're easy to love but hard to watch. Very frustrating. Hopefully a few solid incoming players and less injuries will help that. 25 wins and a sweet 16 is a good start.

Attendance seems down everywhere. Some SEC teams you see in reg season on tv are literally playing in front of a couple of hundred.

Happy that the LV’s won, They snatched a victory from an almost certain loss. How a team goes from playing a very good half to a half of demonstrating that they don’t have a clue and don’t care for a half is beyond my comprehension. And Harper’s coaching, did she learn nothing from Summit?Horrible coaching job tonight. Does she understand that’s it’s ok to call a timeout when the opponent has taken total control of the game and you need to stop the game to allow you and your team a chance to gather their wits; try to figure out where and why the breakdowns and break the flow of the game for the other team. They were very lucky tonight, with nine seconds left they were beat. Some of you will say that you knew they would win even then. The best you could hope for was a miraculous tie. On to the Sweet 16!

No, it's a generational issue that's been going on for a while. The Lady Vols 'Boost-hers' are aging out and the UTAD has failed to attract younger fans since Hart tried to kill the brand.

They need to get back to the days where games were fun to attend and do a better job promoting the program to young families and students. I'm afraid the next season's new ticket pricing strategy is going do the opposite and chill attendance.

You must have missed an unfortunate fact: We haven't been good in years. You might want to cast your glance at Warlick and her string of weak teams for the lack of fans and diminution of the brand. There's an age-old law in sports: winning generates fan support. If the program starts showing real strength again, the fans will come.

What is going on? TBA looks fairly empty, especially in the upper decks. I think there is about as many Belmont fans there as Lady Vols fans.
Lol, this is a funny post. The way you wrote this sounds like you're watching it on TV and criticizing for light attendance. I assume, like me, you live in another state.

Mon game attendances:

NC state: 4808
UConn: 10,167 capacity: 10,167
LSU: 8,135
Indiana: 9,627
Michigan: 5,581
ND: 3,258
TN: 5,484

Not bad numbers at all. I do believe that just a few years ago, no one would think that these women's games would draw these crowds all across the country. ND's numbers are just dismal. I always thought their fans were kind of rabid about their team. As far as arenas feeling empty, it would seem that way when the arena holds 15-17k seats, and 6k, 10k show up for games. The numbers are good for womens basketball, but compared to a full to capacity Gampbel Pavillion at 10K, it's hard to not feel that other teams arena's are empty, when in fact, they're numbers are quite comparable.

It's basically all UConn can hang their hat on Sports wise. They used to have a great Men's team but have fallen off over the years.

The game was not played at ND. It was at Oklahoma.

And how many of those were Belmont fans? What an embarrassing level of fan apathy for a program looking to go to its first Sweet 16 in six years...

I think the post was more about the attendance numbers of the crowd, not the crowd. The ones that were there definitely showed up!

The last 5 minutes of these tournament games are a marathon with the constant timeouts and reviews. Wish they would cut way back on the number of team time outs or do something.

I alway find it interesting how players/coaches almost always point their way when they know their player was the last one to touch a ball going out of bounds. I would be totally shocked if a player ever told an official “no, it was off me”.

I love it when Kim Mulkey stomps her foot and flails her arms. Reminds me of a spoiled 5 year old throwing a temper tantrum.

In the tourney, any win is a good win as long as no one gets seriously injured. Good win Lady Vols.

Can't talk crowd wo huge props to the Belmont folks. They must have clogged up I-40 getting up here. There was a few hundred of them and they were LOUD, far louder than the notoriously quiet LV crowd - at first. Had to enjoy it for them, they were having the time of their lives, I talked to a relative of one of their players on the way out and he was so gracious. Said they had a great weekend in Knoxville and couldn't have been more complimentary of the LV program and staff for how they were treated. Indeed he said, it was the time of their basketball life, even though disappointed in the end. For them, it will always be the one that got away. As we parted he assured me they'll be rooting hard for the LVs the rest of the way. Class, class, class.
