IMO once conference play started, DK was an above average defender, a good rebounder, and really good at blocking shots. If Lanier can produce at a similar level then he will be a welcomed addition. There’s no way he’s going to score at an all American level. These predictions of Lanier producing near the DK level are unrealistic.I agree on the offensive side of the ball. I think Lanier will be better equipped to handle the defensive assignments that come his way. We may never see anyone like Knecht again in orange. However, Lanier is a big get and will give us solid and consistent offensive production. I think Lanier will be less of a scorer, but very consistent scorer.
It’s not needed either I think we will have more consistent scorers around Lanier to help the offense flow more evenly which has worked for teams like UConn who had 5 guys averaging double digit scoring last yearIMO once conference play started, DK was an above average defender, a good rebounder, and really good at blocking shots. I think we're saying the same thing.IMO once conference play started, DK was an above average defender, a good rebounder, and really good at blocking shots. You're probably right. However, I have high hopes for Estrella and even C Phillips. If they both develop like I think they can, we may not take a step back at all.I will be pleasantly shocked if our post play is better than Aidoo & Awaka’s production - hope you’re right. I’d be very happy if it’s an even swap. Aidoo was second team all conference and first team defensively. He was our second scoring option for most of conference play. Awaka’s production per minute was close to elite.
Nobody on Volnation is going to argue against you. We all cheer for the Vols and we all want Tennessee to win it all. Coach Barnes and staff have done a remarkable job of reloading this roster. We are in the hunt for a very special season! Go Vols!
Was this meant as sarcasm?I haven't been following the offseason too closely. I like the newcomers that I'm aware of, but I'm wondering how everybody is going to fit together. I think the biggest thing last year's team was missing was a crunchtime playmaker that can set everybody else up off the dribble. Have we got a guy for that?
ZZ gets assists in the flow of the offense, but I don't want him to be primary ballhandler in crunch time. He's not enough of a scoring threat.
