We’ve been overrated all year

This is not a top ten team and shouldn’t have been all year. A top ten team would have beat Vandy by 10+. Alabama beat them by 57.
And we beat several teams in a row by over 30. They have hit a bit of a wall. They are still 17 and 5 not 11-11.

The game that put me on notice that I had better tamp down my expectations for this team was the Colorado loss. All season they have been capable of beating anybody because they play good defense, but now that the offense has regressed, the team's overall performance is starting to regress. I believe that other teams have started to figure us out offensively. All this said, I would not be surprised to see them beat Missouri and Alabama next week. Defense has a way of keeping you in every game you play.

Agree the team was overrated. That’s going to get corrected soon. The real problem is that the talent on the roster is overrated. Barnes just hasn’t recruited well enough to take the next step. Now teams like bama, Arkansas are going to pass us by.

You're talking like we're some blue blood program that has dominated for years. If anything, those expectations tell us everything we need to know about where Barnes has this program.

As for recruiting, we've been a composite top #10 for the last 3 seasons. And we've played like a top #10 team most of that time. Seems pretty straight forward.

Bottom line: You call them overrated. But then you compare them against unrealistic expectations. They are a top #10-#15 team... and when they get hot, perhaps a bit better. That's pretty much in line their play all season.

Been overrated all year - not a top 10 team. Our soft early schedule including the SEC first half is why we’ve been ranked so high. Now that the schedule has toughened up we are losing some games. We will be a 3-4 seed like last year and lose in the second round again.

No! That's entirely different. It doesn't fit the sinking ship narrative of the panic stricken posters who predict the end of the world in upon us.
The end of the world IS up on us. Enjoy it while you can.

Their frat boys acted like they win a natty last night. Mockingly playing Rocky Top and chanting “it’s great to be a Tennessee Vol”. “Thanks for coming all this way”… like literally most UT fans just walked over to Memorial and outnumbered Vandy “fans”. They can enjoy getting to .500 I guess and staying on edge for the NIT selection show… also 65-0

Give those brats some space. Geeesh, we've won like 12 in a row over them. They don't remember being there before, so they can't act like it.

Is this part of the numbers that don't lie too?

I think these are among the numbers that do lie (like the numbers that tell the lie that Vescovi is an excellent defender). If you remember this simple rule, you won't go wrong: other schools win because they're good and lose because they sometimes have an off-night, whereas Tennessee wins because the other teams are bad and loses because they themselves are bad.
