We all owe Hadden an apology

Secondary wasn’t nearly as effective without him. Don’t know what you‘ve got till it’s gone.
We Vol fans are often more cruel to our own players than to our opponents
It wasn’t great with him either. The reason our DBs looked improved this season was because of our pass rush. I think our pass rush got to Leary once last night

Yes. He has been a much better player after the Florida game and he was obviously missed tonight, but not getting any pressure on Leary was a big part of it too. Whether that was a bunch of holding that didn’t get called or Kentucky just has a pretty good pass block line. Our defense plays much better when we get pressure on the qb. That hasn’t happened much the past six quarters and it shows.

Saw a quote last night on talking vawls that said Tennessee s game plan was to make Leary beat us and as good as he played they still couldn’t. We sold out on the run and Leary had a heisman esq game but even still we still won. GBO!!!

I understand the Martinez problem, however Martinez has no say in the allignment and Defense that is called. That part is on Banks. I feel like that is overlooked a lot. My eyes tell me we do not have the skill on the back end to compete st the Safety positions. Star is slow as well. Hadden was a bright spot in coverage. I think we have to play our corners with a large cushion to keep our safeties from being exposed thus more guys to keep the wr from going to the house

It feels similar to Arian Foster. Foster was a great back and actually didn't fumble that much. But when he did, man was it at a bad time.

Same with Hadden. Good corner, but when he messes up....man is it in a bad spot and boy is it epically bad (the chirping at SC after getting beat and that God awful tackle "attempt" at UF).

Not his biggest fan, but he is missed. Still wouldn't change what we've got in McDonald and McCullough though. Those two...especially McDonald....are awful. Maybe with so few game left, we might be able to play those younger guys without burning a redshirt?
Sounds good. I think the current rule is "no more than four games played". Redshirting: All You Need to Know About Redshirt Rules

Someone else mentioned it but does Hadden have a year to come back and play again? Not sure if that would happen but didnt know if it was an option

Burrell, McDonald, McCullough, Slaughter, Turnage all need to give back their scholarships. I'm so tired of their lackluster coverage. Let the young guys earn their stripes. Maybe they'll get some picks, maybe not, but there's no way they can be worse than the aforementioned.
Agree, we have young talent in secondary that never gets to play

I owe him an apology. He really pissed me off at last years South Carolina game constantly getting beat and he’d jump up jawing.I didn’t understand why.Little did I know he knew they were stealing signs and cheating kudos to him for calling them out for what they are.

Some owe him an apology but this we thing was not a general consensus.
Maybe you should say I owe Haden an apology and let the rest fall in place.

The problem that we have is having the athletes and depth we need to call the defense we need to call.
Depth and Quality Depth is the problem. It will take two more recruiting cycles to fill the void and gain experience vs the youth we are playing with at the moment.

There are some on the roster that have been around for years that cannot cut it but we have little depth.

What we did last night will not work every game so be it. That falls on coaching. Our youth is killing us.

He was bad real bad, so yeah fans let him have it, I admit ,I thought he was the worst DB I'd ever seen and I never thought he could get any better but he proved me wrong and I'm happy for it, he turned his game around and became a staple of the defense, he'll be badly missed

And yet we're still a Top 20 defense, imagine that.
Actually, after this game we are ranked 26th in total D…and when factoring in the noticeable 3rd down conversions allowed we drop to 31st (primarily due to passing yds allowed). Thankfully, our D line is tough or our stats would be much worse. GBO!

Only those who dissed him own an apology. Don't throw me in that category.

Furthermore, the secondary was not that bad in the UK game. There were a couple of breakdowns, but you're going to have that most any game. A number of completions were just pinpoint accurate or the receiver made an outstanding grab. Until 4Q, we got virtually no pressure on Leary. UK only scored 3 pts. in 4Q.
