We are not a good basketball team

We do not appear to be a very good basketball team at all. Golden isn't as good as we all thought so it would appear and we rebound very poorly. The shot selection still isn't very good, nor is the D. Looks like it may be a long season. Hope i am wrong though.

Well, you're certainly wrong about this. Outrebounded Memphis 47-32; outrebounded Duke 33-32. Got beaten on the boards tonight, and looked extremely leg-weary. Needed two more days off.

I didn't have a problem with tonight - it's early. I would like to see improvement and effort through the season and I'll be happy.

no I have enough trouble keeping up with the 2 forums I care about. I just think its sad you pull for 3 different sec teams, and I could care less why you do it.

I pull for Ut in football, Bama in Collegiate Fishing, Florida in womern's softball, & Kentucky in basketball. What's sad about that?????

I hate to say it, but it is gonna take time for Cuonzo to recruit some players. The NCAA messes in FB and BB set us back in both sports. I didn't see good D tonight and Oakland made about 30 points on foul shots. They had to be 90% from the line and we were maybe 50 or 60%. Couldn't hit the layups. They also shot the lights out from the field.

He has already offered to two 3*s for next year.

They did not. We shot 41%; they shot 43%. Their offensive efficiency rating was much higher (both teams' efficiency was poor). The game was in the 80s because neither team ran very many sets and both teams took a lot of bad shots because of it. We should have been able to slow this game down, keep it in the 60s, and come away with at least a ten point win.

Without incredible athletes on defense a team cannot afford to be inefficient on offense; set plays do a lot in avoiding inefficiency.

Yep, Pearl proved that by running nothing but set plays and having the most inefficient offense I've ever seen. Great point.

16th most efficient offense in the nation in 07-08. We finished 7th in the final poll that year.

30th in 08-09.

I did not watch any basketball in 09-10.

Last year, there were plenty of other issues surrounding the team.

The half-court offense was never efficient under Pearl. Never. Also, when your opponent scores 89 points and you score 82, the problem isn't the efficiency of your offense, it's your defense.

Shot selection is very bad. It seems like every time we need a bucket, someone throws up some prayer that has no chance to go in.

16th. 7th in the final poll.

That disproves nothing. We were an excellent team. We had elite guard play. We hit tons of contested threes. Does that mean we were a great half-court offensive team? No, because we weren't. Now, run along and cheer for the Jayhawks and think up ways to defend child molesters.

Typical football school, reactionary fan who doesn't realize there are more than 12 games in a basketball season and EVERY team will lose at least 2 stinkers this year.

I agree that shot selection is bad at the most crucial points in the game. We run an excellent half-court offense and need to be more patient in our shot selection. I really suspect that this is something that Martin will be working on with this team.

The majority of the offensive sets under Martin end up being 4 guys standing around the perimeter, 1 guy underneath. There are little to no off the ball screens, baseline screens, etc.

As for better shot selection:

“If you have a shot you have to let it fly and that’s the most important thing,” Martin said after the LMU game.

No. You try to get the best look every time down the floor.

Your summary of the offense is total and complete garbage. There are off the ball screens that begin essentially every single offensive possessions. That's how motion offenses operate. You obviously have no clue.
