We do not appear to be a very good basketball team at all. Golden isn't as good as we all thought so it would appear and we rebound very poorly. The shot selection still isn't very good, nor is the D. Looks like it may be a long season. Hope i am wrong though.
I hate to say it, but it is gonna take time for Cuonzo to recruit some players. The NCAA messes in FB and BB set us back in both sports. I didn't see good D tonight and Oakland made about 30 points on foul shots. They had to be 90% from the line and we were maybe 50 or 60%. Couldn't hit the layups. They also shot the lights out from the field.

Yep, Pearl proved that by running nothing but set plays and having the most inefficient offense I've ever seen. Great point.
16th most efficient offense in the nation in 07-08. We finished 7th in the final poll that year.
30th in 08-09.
I did not watch any basketball in 09-10.
Last year, there were plenty of other issues surrounding the team.

That disproves nothing. We were an excellent team. We had elite guard play. We hit tons of contested threes. Does that mean we were a great half-court offensive team? No, because we weren't. Now, run along and cheer for the Jayhawks and think up ways to defend child molesters.
Shot selection is very bad. It seems like every time we need a bucket, someone throws up some prayer that has no chance to go in.
I agree that shot selection is bad at the most crucial points in the game. We run an excellent half-court offense and need to be more patient in our shot selection. I really suspect that this is something that Martin will be working on with this team.
If you have a shot you have to let it fly and thats the most important thing, Martin said after the LMU game.
The majority of the offensive sets under Martin end up being 4 guys standing around the perimeter, 1 guy underneath. There are little to no off the ball screens, baseline screens, etc.
As for better shot selection:
No. You try to get the best look every time down the floor.
