We continue to lose when…

Hoping that yesterday was a sign that CRB plans on making Estrella part of the rotation, as the kid got more confident as the game wore on. He doesn't seem to have any fear of the moment, and has a little swagger that you need in a rim protecting big.
I like the fact he looks to slam it at any opportunity

I think that the plan is to play Estrella, Phillips, Dilione, and/or any other reserve. Barnes has said many times that he rewards players with opportunities for minutes ONLY after they practice well. Have a bad week of practice, that player might not log a minute. While some posters scratch their heads and beyotch about CRB’s roster management.

Agree. In order for this UT group to maximize what they can be, SV and JJJ need to be able to do what we've seen them do so often in the past but have only gotten fleeting glances of this year.

Santi contributes so much as a passer and with his defense, he just needs to be able to knock down those open looks he'll continue to get off of Knecht's gravity. Same deal with JJJ's non-scoring contributions, and he offers another potential go-to scorer when DK is sitting or just not sharp. Run some P&R with James and Aidoo - James can be lethal coming off a screen once he's in the paint, and Aidoo has already proven to be an effective roll man, either getting to the rim or popping that short jumper.

When Barnes figures out how to use all of these pieces to compliment what DK brings to the table offensively, maybe UT can finally avoid those killer shooting droughts that have sunk us so often in March. We finally have the weapons, and hopefully this group will really blossom during the SEC grind.
How can “Barnes figure out how to use all these pieces” if the pieces aren’t consistent? JJJ & SV have to become more offensively consistent for this team to reach their potential. Hoping it will happen by March!

I don't disagree. With Santi, it's more a matter of him getting his confidence in his shooting stroke back, but JJJ can be so much more than simply a spot up shooter with his athleticism. I'm just suggesting that one way to get him going might be designed P&R's, getting him those open foul line jumpers or better yet going to the rim. Get him involved in the offense beyond spotting up and crashing the boards.

I’m beginning to like Mashacks athleticism more than JJJs plus he plays with so much more energy and heart imo.We need them all to play with confidence if we’re going to make a deep run come March.

Mashack has sneakily developed a nice shot. His stroke is fundamentally sound. His FT % has improved, which is affirmation of an improved stroke. Product of the Barnes' program.

I like our chances at Ky, especially with the way Aidoo has been improving.
Continued improvement over the next 2 weeks will help him progress
toward averaging a double-double every game.

Awaka and Estrella also continue to develop, slow but sure. Good things on the horizon.

Auburn will be our biggest headache I'm afraid.

Don't disagree at all regarding Mashack, who is kind of the 'glue guy' of this group. But with the athletic tools and shooting stroke that JJJ has, he should be a much better offensive player. I think he's unselfish to a fault, and it's up to Barnes and the staff to create opportunities for him to maximize those skills.

You don’t watch much CBB do you ?
Watch enough to know a F4 capable team should win some conference road games against inferior teams. That one was a missed opportunity because the Vols failed to have the right mindset from the opening tip. I’m not buying the metrics that say MSU is a really good team. AL took care of business there.

If you watched enough then you’d realize that your statement eliminates just about every Top 10 team, first year ever without 4 F4 teams?!?!

IMO, it was a bad loss/missed opportunity we might regret late in the season. I respect your right to think otherwise.
Definitely wasn’t a “bad loss”, 100% a missed opportunity though, however that wasn’t your original take…we’ve ALREADY seen multiple Top 10 teams (thus F4 capable) take losses on the road to unranked teams.

My original take was “how did we lose to that team”. An obvious rhetorical question that triggered some folks. Still think MSU will prove to be a mediocre team that we should have beat even on the road. No big deal.

I don’t think we get Kentucky at Rupp. It’s a night game the joint will be juiced and they will be ready for us, and usually the whistle leans to them at home. I like our chances with auburn at home if aidoo brings against their big. I think we get Kentucky at TBA/FCC.

At Rupp, Feb. 3rd, on espn prime time, then last game of regular season at TBA.
