OK we all agree that this season has been a surprise! And no matters what happens in the next 3 or 4 games Im proud of my VOLS! But we control our own destiny!
In my opinion, we have 4 steps to get to the NCAA tourney. LSU, Vandy, SECT 1st game, and SECT 2nd game. And step 1 starts tonight! We as fans need to get pumped for this game! This is the first time in a while a game means this much to our Bball program! This game could be a program changer! Go vols!

yeah, it's the biggest game of the year so far. we lose it we are nit bound, we win, we are in the hunt still. i don't think we can win down there, unless we play with a lot of fire and passion.

We really do control it. We must have this win tonight, and then hopefully we will have a packed house to watch us get some payback on Vandy at TBA Saturday afternoon.

I don't see it. We make it to the finals and we would be a sketchy bubble team at best.

In which I would think our record the last 10 games puts us over the top. Maybe I'm putting too much weight there, but they like to see recent w's.

I think an appearance in the finals is a requirement if we get a bye on Day 1 of the conference tourney.

Plus not having Stokes for quite a few of the bad losses.

Hey bassman, please leave the negative stuff to yourself! None of us care for it! If we win out that means all we have to do is win 2 games in sect and we meet uk in the finals!

Oh I forgot, forums aren't for reality - they're for pipe dreams and fairy tales of the sun shine pumpers telling mythical tales of our football team going 12-0 this season.

He was giving his opinion, which, over the years, has tended to be spot on.

I suppose that's true, but they would have a hard time justifying keeping us out.

The D2 win doesn't count (so take away a win)

Poor/terrible away from home (as well as awful against ranked)

RPI was in the hundreds last I looked

And awful looking losses to Oakland, charleston, and Austin Peay

They wouldn't have too hard a time justifying it.

here were some numbers i posted back on the 19th, feel free to correct me if they've changed or are no longer correct as of the present

Just looking at it at the moment... we have 1 less win in consideration than our record shows because Chaminide is a division 2 team, we're carrying around several really bad losses to Oakland (15-14), Austin Peay (10-19), and Charleston (16-11) (don't know how badly the loss to UGA - now 12-13 - weighs), the team's rpi is dreadful - somewhere in the 100s,

and while the team has 3 nice wins (2 at home) against UF (twice) and an at-the-time ranked uconn (now 16-10), the team's 0-2 on neutral courts, 1-8 on the road, and (might as well include) 3-6 against ranked teams, 1-4 against ranked teams when not playing at home...At the moment I'm not going to (or able to) get into rpi vs top 25 or rpi vs top 50/100 (including home v away) at the moment

Our bubble's already pretty much deflated, we have to win the tournament if we really want in

He's right.
We're contending for the 5th spot in the sec, if they take 5 this year.
We'll most likely have to beat Ole Miss or M State in our first game. Then Vandy a second time.
and it all swings on winning tonight and Saturday.
Even if we do it all, we'll be on the bubble at best.

You know its not unreasonable to think we've got a shot at the NCAA tourney, beat lsu and Vanderbilt as well as at least one sec victory and we should be in the conversation.

This is the way you want it. Not having to wait for it or to depend on others. At this point all we have to do is win out the regular season...for a two seed with one kink in the slaw a UF upset of KY which is about 10% chance of happening. Win out that is it....

As for the tourney anything can happen but with a 2 seed chances get better...for us because of position and we will play a winner 7 or 10 seed, and then the winner of a 11, 6, 3 seed. Then survive the Lower brack to face the winner of 1, 4, 5, 8, 9, 12 upper bracket.

Assumption it will be KY but this is tournament time and anything can happen.

Our focus is winning out to control destiny.

The bubble this year is simply god awful, so UT has that working in it's favor. Last four in right now could arguably be:

Texas RPI 56 18-11 (8-8) 6-4 in last ten.
Miami RPI 48 17-10 (8-6)
Xavier RPI 54 18-11 (9-6) 5-5 in last ten.
Arizona RPI 71 21-9 (12-5) 5 losses in the Pac-10, which sucks.

UT could easily eclipse, say, Arizona. However, once the conference tourneys start winding down, the bubble always shrinks because some teams thought to be AQs lose and eat up at-large spots.
