We do have the very legitimate argument that Stokes wasn't on the team for the really bad losses, and the NCAA does take that into account. They also take into account how you finished the season, which works in our favor. We're clearly playing like an NCAA-worthy team right now, even if we weren't in December.

That said, we went into tonight with an RPI of 93. Beating LSU probably didn't change that very much. We'd have to beat the CommodeOdors and then beat at least one, probably two, of the SEC's top teams in the tournament to shift the RPI number anywhere near enough to be considered, even with the extenuating circumstances of the bad losses.

Beating LSU raised our RPI to about 80, that's pretty significant.

He was giving his opinion, which, over the years, has tended to be spot on.

Got news for you this guys opinion isn't spot on and he really called out a poster for no reason whatsoever.
I am extremely happy with Cuonzo and the Vols they have exceeded all expectations. With that being said, our RPI is in the 90's, we have very little impressive OOC wins, except UCONN. This team is more than likely going to have to win the SEC tournament to get in. Looking forward to seeing what we can do at the end of the year, but everything is lining up for next year.

We need Bama to lose to Ole Miss badly, but I don't think that's going to happen. Bama's hot right now, definitely making sure they make the tournament. If Bama loses and we take care of business, then we could get the #2 or #3 seed and not have to play UK in the semi's. This would be an easier first quarterfinal game and give us Vandy/Florida in the semi's if we win.

I don't see it. We make it to the finals and we would be a sketchy bubble team at best.

If the Vols make it to the SEC tourney final and lose, their RPI is projected to be in top 50. The selection committee also weighs last 10 games and the impact of having or not having certain players (ie Stokes.) The Vols get in under that scenario IMO

Bama is not the key. If UK beats Florida and Vols beat Vandy, then Tennessee is the #2.

Not everyone who takes a realistic view of our season is a troll.
I've been an avid supporter of Martin since he was hired when many others were calling him the cheap solution.
I've always held that he could be the best of the Keady crop.
The most optimistic boards give us a 41% chance of winning tonight and a 43% chance of beating Vandy at home if that makes you feel better.
But the chances of us winning 4 in a row are very low and beating KY are even lower.
I would like for nothing better than to see them get into the NCAA tourney.
FLA over KY? Nil.

I agree. Now with the win over LSU I think we have a better shot at Vandy now. If we win out and win 2 in the tourny does that mean we still don't have a shot at beating Kentucky. Your thoughts.

We played them closer than anyone else in the SEC this year.
But, even though we've gotten better, so have they.
I don't think KY will lose another game this year, barring serious injury.
Best defense in the country and one of the best offenses.

Tennessee surged to 81 in the RPI with the win last night against LSU. It's looking brighter, next up Vandy at home.

Step 1 beat LSU....CHECK!
Step 2 beat Vandy...CHECK!
Step 3 win 1st game in SEC Tourney.....?

I said it last week and I will say it again tonight, We control our own destiny! All we have to worry about is winning, everything else will work itself out. Step 3 is winning Friday! We are starting to get recognized by the nation. We keep playing like we have the last 4 weeks who knows we might be in the Championship on Sunday! Im proud of Coach Martin and the job he has done with this team! Today was the biggest win of his career so far! It turned alot of heads! Cant wait to see what the future holds for us, this year and the years to come.
