We got screwed

We lost because we have another coach that has glued himself to a ****** QB. Heupel sucks and we will be replacing him in two seasons. Yes, Heupel is a bad coach. He either can't design a game plan nico can execute, when every other team in the country can start a freshman QB.... or he is too stubborn to pull Milton. History with Hooker makes it look more like heupel simply won't pull Milton, which makes him stupid. Only a ****ing idiot starts Milton. No point in wasting your time trying to convince me it's not Milton's fault, it's the defense..... defense sucks but Milton is worse. He makes heupels offense literally useless. We simply have zero chance with Milton but with nico, he at least has the chance to improve. Plus he might not **** up the most basic QB tasks that Milton seems unable to do. God, heupel is pure garbage....
He gets 8mil a Yr win or not

I think the new clock rules require comebacks to have a lot more urgency. No one is going to be scoring more than a TD with 6 minutes left in the game.

We got beat on both sides of the ball.... we lost the line of scrimmage on both sides, Florida was more physical and Florida was better coached. They attacked us and we didn't adjust quick enough.
Mays and Pili were missed.

By far the best recap I have seen on the game. All 100% true.

But we could have dominated the entire second half if it wasn’t for those ******** calls. Yes we played a horrendous first half but Tennessee was the better team the second half. Refs didn’t allow UT to get momentum the entire second half.

Who cares, a game is 2 halves. Show up and stop blaming the refs. Such a freakin loser, whiny mentality. We sound like every other fanbase we make fun of.

It was obvious we were the better team the second half but Florida got every call. I hope Napier swallows, he obviously promised them something. We will be okay, the coaching staff made adjustments at the half that showed we were the better team. Go vols and screw Florida up holding every damn play
You have to be very drunk

Players are behind Milton. Change qb and team pissed. That’s the locker room debate. Players as fans split. Coach is frustrated cause it’s a no win. Some players think it’s a union job
Saw it in the Bama game, the other QBs were even worse than Milroe

I don't see how anyone watche this game and their first concern is how bad the officiating was.

It's not my first concern but it is an impact full concern. As bad as a team plays, they should not be made to overcome bad officiating. You only need to be 1 point better than the other team not overwhelmingly better to compensate for the costly bad calls. It was not our job to be far better than Florida. It probably cost us 7 - 17 points when you bullet point bad calls.

But it's been this way forever. Bad officiating has been around since I've watched sports and there is no incentive to change because they just keep making money and we keep watching.

You control what you can control; when you don't do that, you open the door for bad refs to impact you. And you're downplaying how badly we played, saying we don't have to be "far better than Florida", sure...but we were far worse too much of the game. That's on us, not any refs.

There is bad officiating then there is totally one sided ole school Boston Celtics home court bad officiating.

I've seen you math before
Imma need to verify the other 18
LOL....You can start with the 3 lack of holding calls that were so blatant the announcers commented about it and the pass interference non-call when the defender had a handful of jersey.

Refs aren’t why we lost. We suck and that’s why we lost
Actually they killed at least two touchdown drives with their phantom penalties. We were going to score when they called Castle with that phony blind side block. Another drive was thwarted when Thorton was mugged in the endzone. I've never seen Herbstreet make more comments about how bad those calls were. I don't think they called one PI on florida the whole game. I counted 5 obvious ones. I don't think they ever called them for offensive holding either. The horse collar tackle on Tyler Barron by the gator OL was beyond obvious and the ref was looking right at it. Had he not been horse collared, he would probably have stripped the ball from Mertz. Horrible calls all night long. Worst I've ever seen.

That's not even counting the kick the ball and then hold the play and let Fla sub out.

Florida was complaining also, on one of our long passes we picked to get our guy open.

They said on the amazing throw to Thornton that the play clock was expired and it should have been a delay of game.

They said we held a lot on the OL and in the secondary.

The refs are always bad, sometimes it’s astounding how few people realize that. We didn’t get screwed, we got punched in the mouth, and we folded. We tried to come back in the 2nd half, and Floridas QB was hurt, so they played not to lose and to run the clock out.

The clock rule change for this year screwed us more than the refs did, but still less than we screwed ourselves
This is good observations

The clock rule excuse is so tired. The clock rule doesn’t run out that much time. Under the old rule they restarted the clock after the chains were moved and set. How about just stopping the other team from getting first downs and making them punt the ball back to you. Or hey, even force a turnover. That works to.

Can't wait until halftime to make adjustments. That's either poor coaching or player aptitude.

They’re both why we lost. Multiple things can be true.
No question we deserved that loss. Couldn’t find our butt with either hand on both sides of the ball for most of the game. What disturbs me is a team that averaged over 40 points a game last year only putting up 16 against a very mediocre Florida defense. And yes, the officiating hurt us at a couple of critical times when we were at least trying to come back. The Three Blind Mice could have done better.

I feel like it wasnt just the second half. I have seen a game where one team literally got the benefit every single time. If there was a situation where a call could be made, or not made, to Floridas benefit it happened. Whether it was an insanely bad call on a legal block, multiple missed PI's, quick whistle on procedure penalties or allowing subs in situations they should not be. Ill have to watch the game again later this week when its not so fresh but i feel like the more i watch it the more ill be pissed .

Florida won the game and may have even won it without those calls. That being said anytime we built any type of momentum it normally got stopped by a questionable call. There were a lot of self inflicted procedure penalties but even those I think were kind of affected by the refs. Players were on edge. CJH was very animated on the sidelines and talking to the refs a lot. The pick milton threw was just the game. You'd have thrown that pick of a 400 pound guy was falling on your butt too.

The second half showed what this team can do. I think we should have went to the pass way earlier because when we passed on early downs we had success. Anyway im fine I think we are still on track for 9-10 wins in regular season and a good bowl. The team is not as bad as it seemed and our defense is looking good IMO. Id be much more worried if we lost because of a defensive breakdown (USCe last year). In this case if there is one thing im sure they can figure out its the offense. The coaches just need to figure out what the pecking order at WR is gonna be. Thornton has shown flashes if they can get him squirrel and castles fully integrated it gets scary. Bru and Ramel are just who they are, dogs. But those ither three are the x factors.

The referee’s was certainly a big factor in the game that needs to be addressed. However, that does not undo how poorly Tennessee prepared for this game. Many of the players on the team looked uninterested, as if they were surprised to even show up and play a sporting event.

The refs sucked but we screw ourself with legitimate dumb penalties. We essentially run a silent count yet how many false starts do we average a game? The defense jumping on 4th down sums up the discipline of the entire defense.
