We Have 25 Commits

Nice piece written on this over at RockyTopTalk, including a class matrix
Tennessee Vols Football Scholarship Matrix - Rocky Top Talk

The Vols are currently 7 scholarships under the 85-man NCAA roster cap with another 11 seniors on track to graduate, for a total of 18 available scholarships. Any additional players signed in the 2015 class would have to be preceded by departures of current scholarship players, up to the SEC maximum class size of 25 players. For those of you keeping track, that would be seven non-senior players leaving the roster if a regular 25 man class was signed (25 max - 11 seniors - 7 open scholarships = 7 player departures needed).

Not sure where they are getting the "7 scholarships under the 85" currently which would be 78. Looks to me like the roster is at 80. Evans Eleven Tennessee scholarship roster shows 81, but they have not removed Paulk as of yet.

They wrote that back in the summer and may have missed Gilliam and Swafford getting scholys

Yep same here...that makes a few of us now.

Nobody will know until February.

Last year people were saying 25, 30, or 35.
All were wrong.

I said 32 or 33 and showed how I got to that number.

We won't know until Feb. I'm confident it's 25 but there's always a huge chance I'm wrong. :) that's what my fiancé reminds me of everyday

Nobody outside of the AD will know until February...that's very true. I'm not the only person who has heard they plan on taking 28. Chandler Bing has spoken with someone close to the program and I have family very close to the program. They are planning on taking 28. I have a couple ideas as to how they can take 28-29, but it would be purely speculation on my part.

I was told they planned to take 32-34 last year and it was accurate. So imo I have no reason to doubt what I'm being told in regards to this class. I'm just sharing some of the stuff I've been told. I am in no way guaranteeing they take 28-29...that's just what the plan is at this time.

Butch knows exactly what he's doing and has a plan that will work imo. He's entirely too detail-oriented to not have a strategic outline of how recruiting plays out. The man simply knows the recruiting game inside and out...I love watching CBJ and Co. do their thing.

We are in for a fun and wild ride until NSD. It's going to be interesting how it all plays out since we don't have the added luxury of back counting this year.
